So I need some help! My mother in law is making me and my fiancé change our wedding date because she won’t be there because she is deciding to go to a Mardi Gras ball over our wedding, what should I do? My fiancé is defending her and telling me that I’m wrong for being upset?

Your life doesn't revolve around her. If you've already locked in the date too bad for her. It is extremely selfish of the MIL to put a party before the wedding of her child. The only way I'd change my date is if my fiance asked me. Your fiance must learn that you come first.

I also found that confusing. Mardi Gras always falls in February or March - but OP's profile has a wedding set for October 2019. Is FMIL talking about an actual Mardi Gras event, or a party that will have a Mardi Gras theme? Neither is more important than her child's wedding.

This is so wrong on many levels. So just because of her she will be costing you money to reschedule since the venue is booked. Your FH should NOT be defending her?! It's a flipping ball for crying out loud. It is not her day and the day is about you two no matter who shows up. My family was already complaining that my venue was about and hour and a half from where they live (5 hours from where I live mind you) the thing I hear over and over again is that you are going to upset people when you're planning because you can't make everyone happy. You need to focus on what you and your FH want not what his flipping mother wants, which he really needs to understand.

Simple, that was rude of your MIL. You have already made your deposit. The date is set.
