Most fun you ever had at a wedding?

FutureMrs2017, on April 7, 2017 at 12:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

The main thing we want for our wedding is for our guests to have the time of their lives. Many are travelling across the globe to be here for us, so we definitely want to host them accordingly! What's the most fun you ever had at a wedding and/or the most (positively) memorable moment from a wedding you attended as a guest? My favorite moment was when the bride and groom were so nervous/excited to be married they giggled all through their vows. It was precious! Maybe i think that just because I'm a nervous laugher myself, though. Ha!

Other than my own wedding of course, my cousin's wedding was pretty freakin awesome. Top shelf open bar, amazing cocktail hour with phenomenal hors d'oeuvres and carving stations, and a super lively dance floor. I also really appreciated that even though the wedding was originally supposed to be outside, because it was POURING out they moved everything inside so we could all be warm, dry, and comfortable. Their photographer also got so many awesome candids of me and H (he was only my bf at the time) partying up a storm that my cousin sent me and which is now a collage of photos up in my office at home. You can tell how much fun we are having.

Reminded me how important it is to keep things simple. Open bar, good food, dance floor, comfortable space = awesome time. I definitely kept these things in mind when planning my wedding.

The foundation of a fun time at a wedding is free booze (that doesn't run out). For me, those have been the best memories of weddings. And late night snacks...those are great.

Things that really excite me at weddings: personal vows (cue the tears) Open bar, passed orderves at cocktail hour (sounds random but when people walk around with miniature snacks I just get real excited lol), and a great DJ! All about the fun

First thing that popped into my head after reading this was the wedding I went to a couple years ago. They had giant bowls of gold fish crackers on the dessert/kid table.

That was seriously the bomb, cause I love gold fish crackers. :-D

I went to a wedding last summer that had a cigar bar and a fire pit next to the open bar. It was so cool just standing around BS'ing with everyone in such a cool, laid back environment.

My brother's wedding was really nice. They had amazing food, an open bar, and the dance floor was always full. Plus it was a beautiful time of year.

The most memorable wedding I attended was at Oheka Castle in Huntington, NY (look it up) - it was a black tie affair. The band was phenomenal and played a ton of songs including Motown, pop, rock and R&B songs. Guests (all 350-plus of them) danced all night. Some random guest pulled me from the side and made me dance with her!

They had cocktails and hors d'oeuvres pre-ceremony, a heated tent for the outdoor evening ceremony, and while we were enjoying the reception, they converted the cocktail hour room into an after hours lounge complete with comfy lounge chairs/couches, a DJ, a sweets table and so much more.

We hung out until about 90% of the guests left - I didn't want to go! But I was so tired, I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer - it was about 2am. This was also the first (and so far only) Jewish wedding I attended and I loved the tradition where the guests put the bride, groom and parents on the chairs LOL. So. Much. Fun.

I had just broken up with my ex and was not looking forward to this wedding because I wouldn't know anyone. I got sat at a table of singles and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Everyone talked to each other and danced with each other even though we just met. It was an unexpected blast. Plus open bar and good food. It really stands out as being memorable. Plus it was close to where I lived as an added bonus and good weather.

Honestly, the best wedding I have ever attended was at a VFW hall with hardly any centerpieces, flowers or decorations. The food was decent, an open bar and a great DJ made it fun.

Awesome - thanks everyone! I love to hear that most had such a great time at really simple weddings. We're definitely having a more laid back affair with great food, plenty of apps (stationary & passed) awesome dj, & plenty of alcohol (we plan to have ale/lager/IPA beers, red/white/sparking wines, and 2 signature drinks flowing all night. I hope that's enough!) I actually do have a menu question, too. Is it ridiculous to start another thread when I've started like 4 between yesterday and today? I am burned out studying wedding etiquette - no idea about forum etiquette. Ha!

I went to a wedding at the Milwaukie art museum last summer and anyone that is familiar with it knows it is super classy and elegant. Well I thought it was going to be a super lame wedding, but by far the best. Great cocktail hour, open bar, wonderful dj and venue. The only down fall was the bathrooms that felt like they were a mile away.. they also rented out a part of a bar prior to cocktail hour when they were taking pictures and it was amazing. you had to buy your own drinks, but the apps were included there too. it was a great touch.
