M&Ms as wedding favors!

Ashtyn, on March 1, 2017 at 1:46 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 14

Hi All,

I purchased pink and blue m&ms with special writing on them for our big day (7/7/17)! I bought bulk bags, so I'm going to have to divide them up. I have 3x3 clear plastic boxes I also purchased already. I want to divide them up and tie closed with bows in our colors. Good idea right? Well I'm having a hard time deciding when to do this little project. I'm afraid of them going stale. Closed from the factory they have 12 month shelf life and there is air in the bag. What's the difference once they're opened? More air?

How long before the wedding is it safe to repackage them?

Thanks!!

    Yes, exposure to air.

Maybe do this a week before?

Maybe a week before and then keep them in a plastic tote with the lid on

ETA- but a bag of regular put them in the box and try them in a week to see if stale. If not then leave for another week and try again.

I would do it as close to the wedding day as possible. A week out at most.

    Following for future reference.

If you don't mind me asking... how much did you pay for these? I want to do this but I think it was expensive

Groupon has deals on these ever so often. They just ran one a few weeks ago. It was like buy $50 Groupon and get $100 worth of M&Ms.

My mom surprised us with one hoping we could use it for favors as well...

We're using M&M's as well! I have them on my to do list for 2 weekends before, but I bought closed containers to put them in. If your boxes don't close up completely I'd wait as long as possible just to be safe.

    We spent a little over $100 @FutureMrsPribula, but I waited until I saw a 50% off sale.

We're doing chocolates for our favors and waiting to open them/package them until the week of the wedding.

I'm thinking of buying the already packaged ones so this isn't another thing to do. But if I do go this route, I'm do it the week of the wedding.

We wanted to do these but fear them melting outdoors in August. I would say do them a week before at most. I understand wanting to do it now but patience will be worth it!! Smiley smile
