Micro Wedding Planning

Margaret, on October 8, 2020 at 3:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hi everyone! We just decided to postpone our January 2021 wedding until January of 2022 due to COVID of course. I'm considering still getting married on our original date and having a small dinner party for those that would be in our bridal party and close family members, then having the full on reception in 2022.

Has anyone else taken this route? Since were still going to get married on our original date should a bachelorette party and bridal shower happen this year, or next? I'm very torn on what to do. It's so difficult to plan when it's such an atypical time!

TIA for your thoughts!!

Margaret

I did the same thing. My minimony is Saturday and I'll be having my reception in June. I had my bachelorette party before I knew I had to cancel my big wedding. My friends thew me a bridal shower two days ago.

Many people are taking this route this year! A small ceremony this year, and a larger reception later on. I think it's also totally fine to delay the bridal shower/bachelorette party/etc. until next year as well, when gathering restrictions are hopefully loosened. I personally delayed my entire wedding until 2022, but I've heard of so many people doing a small ceremony this year and postponing the larger events until later.

I would say if your friends/family want to throw those events for you now then why not? I think before the marriage is better even if you are having a larger celebration next year.

I’m doing this as well. My bachelorette will be after the minimony due to my bridesmaids not being comfortable attending the party because of the virus (they also won’t be at the minimony, ours is going to be just family). I wanted to travel somewhere for the weekend and I didn’t want anyone to feel left out or uncomfortable.

Yes Smiley smile we did exactly this and no regrets! Just had the minimony on 9/26 with bridal party and parents and it was the perfect day. Larger reception in 2021... and bachelorette somewhere in between. Of course, the “event timeline” is off, but in this environment, there are no rules!

We got married and had a minimony on our original anniversary date & our big wedding is in March of next year.

We still plan on doing all of the bridal events before the big wedding. Some will call it rude but with Covid it messed up a lot of things for us brides.
If you still want them, have someone plan it. I don't see a problem with it!

Thanks so much ladies!! I appreciate your feedback. It's so tough planning when there are no established rules. Best of luck to you all!! Smiley heart
