Micro-wedding Invites

Liz, on July 30, 2020 at 8:19 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

We postponed our big wedding from 10/17/20 to 10/23/21 however decided to marry on our original date. We're having a backyard micro wedding with about 30-35 people. I already sent change the date postcards to the 155 people on my original guest list. My question is anyone doing micro weddings are you sending out formal invitations for them or just informing those guests by word of mouth?

I am just inviting people by word of mouth because for us it will only be a handful as well.

We are doing the exact same thing. I’m sending email invites only because I know some of my family has some memory issues and would forgot the details like the address and the time. I just made a little pdf myself nothing fancy at all.

I think word of mouth is fine, but you run into the problem of guests assuming it's a super informal affair, inviting others or talking about it to non invited people, bringing kids and plus ones, and blowing up your guest list.

I'd do e vites that specify this is a small affair and says how many people are invited. Ex. RSVP for 2 adults. Thank you for your understanding, we are keeping this intimate so we have enough room to comply with covid guidelines.

We did evites through Paperless Post for free. That way guests knew exactly who was invited and I linked our wedding website so guests could rsvp there directly from Paperless Post.

We didn't send invitations. I really wanted to, mainly because I love those flat lay pictures and I wanted some with our actual wedding date, but everyone kept telling me they were unecessary. That wouldn't have been enough to stop me from sending them, but it made it feel like less of a priority and eventually I ran out of time. We're only inviting our immediate families though. If we were inviting anyone else, I think I actually would've sent them.

I think it's a personal choice. I'm having a micro wedding of about 25 people and still sending formal paper invites to them. But I'm also a graphic designer and designed them all myself so the paper stationary is really important to me haha.

Hello previous date twin! And possible next year date twin haha. We postponed too and our lovely venue is letting us do just the ceremony there this year so we can go ahead and get married. It’s my bridal party and their S.O. Plus parents and sibling. So for them we’re just doing word of mouth. That being said I do like the idea of an evite just so they have the times and stuff! That way they don’t have to dig back through our texts.

I am doing the same thing! I think either way is fine depending on how formal you want it to be. I am trying to keep mine formal even though it is going to be in my yard so I am still sending invites through the mail. But I think it is whatever works best for the amount of guests you have coming and the plan you have!

I like to keep things formal so I'm planning to send formal invitations via mail first and then "formal" invitations by text later on as a reminder. Doing it on a budget so I am looking on Etsy for templates for both printable invitations and a template specifically for phones to send out after the physical invitations.
