Micro wedding in the fall?

Jennifer, on July 14, 2020 at 10:11 PM Posted in Planning 1 12
Ugh, I need so much advice haha. My wedding date is 10/17 in NJ. We’re not a hotspot , in fact things are getting better. But nothing is opening 😔 Our venue has decided that they cannot accommodate an outdoor reception, and indoor isn’t looking promising. Even if it opens I’m worried it’ll be no dance floor, no bar etc. With the cost of this place I can’t justify just sitting for a fancy dinner. We’re not sure what their policy for postponing is (they’re still handling summer weddings) but if we can I think it’s for the best.

So advice time ... we still want to get married on our date. We’d like our wedding party, and parents to join so it would be like 25 ppl with their husbands/wives. Living in NYC we have no backyard, and our friends and fam live in the city or far away. So no borrowing a backyard. What are other “micro-wedding” options? I know there’s parks and things like that ... but what if it rains? Because at this point it probably will lol. Not to mention it could get cold in October. I don’t even know if there is an option just wondering if anyone has an idea I didn’t think about

I was going to go with this company when we planned on Eloping awhile back. Maybe you can check these out and see if any of them suit you. Also, other venues offered by wedding wire. Good luck!

Could you get a room at a restaurant? A church hall? Maybe a rooftop bar that is covered?

Rent a room at the hotel/inns, University chapels, libraries, museums, garden centers, small churches. There’s a post on here about one of the bride’s in laws finding a boat for them to get married. I thought that was creative. Any port in the storm at this point! 😆
We’re probably doing our vow renewal somewhere this year. Going to cancel original plans of the in the beginning of August and see what happens.

    Hi date twin!
We were looking at using an AirBnB for our micro wedding. It turns out that we didn’t need to because we found a venue to accommodate us, but I highly recommend looking on Airbnb or Vrbo for properties that can accommodate events. Good luck!

Following this thread! Our date is 10/16 in Philadelphia but would imagine there will be similar places between the two cities. Are you planning on eloping at a city hall or having an officiant meet you at the new "venue?" We're trying to figure that out ourselves.

So NJ indoor dining is not open. So no restaurants or bars BUT I did just realize that some areas in New York State are open! So this might be what we do!

So many of them say “no events or parties”. Do you know if any have been flexible?

Look at #StoopWedding tags on Instagram! Perfect city-dweller equivalent to a backyard.

As for a rainy day plan, what about a tent in a local park? You could see about setting up an oversize tent to make room for social distancing?

Our friend was going to officiate our big bash originally. So we’ll probably take her and the bridal party somewhere pretty and do a short ceremony. The where is the problem since you never know the temperature in October. But if we can’t find anything ... yup city hall it is. What’s your backup idea?

What! I didn’t know things weren’t open in your state. So you’re going to limited.
I’m down in TX, so I have options. Just not sure about holding a wedding with all the restrictions.
Looks like a a lot of girls are doing the courthouse and backyards. This is all 😞

Some are flexible if you talk to them. We actually were able to find a few Airbnb’s around Philly to choose from. One of them actually held weddings in the past. We ended up visiting and the couple planned on sorting extra stuff outside of AirBnB. We didn’t go with this venue but I def recommend looking into AirBnB and vrbo!
