Micro or Mini Wedding

Courtney, on June 27, 2020 at 9:14 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 15
For those who had a micro or mini wedding during all of this covid, how did you feel about it afterwards? Did you still enjoy the day regardless of a lot of guests not being there or did you feel like you should've postponed?

We are doing a micro wedding on our original date this year and then having a big reception/vow renewal next year, that's always an option. I bet all of your guests would understand

We went from a 92 person wedding to a 7 person micro wedding on May 16. Honestly I enjoyed it and loved it. Was much more simple, less expensive and we had fun. Decided not to do a vow renewal. Went from a venue to an outdoor garden ceremony and a reception at our apartment. We made the best of it and there are no regrets

Oh wow that's great to hear such good feedback and new from a micro wedding! Our guest list went from 97 to 65 and now it's looks like it'll be about 35-40. I don't think we would want a how renewal and pay for things all over again, plus idk if people would care to come to something like that. So I wanted to hear feedback from someone who did something small and doesn't plan to have anything big later.

Yes I've thought about something like this , but I'm not sure if some of my guests would want to come to something twice or if we would have the funds to spend on something twice. It is a good option though. I guess we'll have to see. Best to luck to your ceremony & vow renewal!

Aw you're welcome. Do what makes you happy. And 35-40 is still small! You def have options! We decided that the money we are getting back from our venue to put it into a house fund. After getting married during COVID, my suggestion is to always have a Plan B.

That's a good idea on putting the money towards the house! I'm sure we will save money on food but I know for sure we want to keep it at the same venue because it's one our favorite spots to hang out! We probably could go for a smaller & cheaper location there at the same place. I guess I'm just slightly nervous about a smaller amount of guests, but I'm not sure why! COVID definitely makes planning more challenging haha

We had always planned on having a small wedding (under 40) and then Covid hit and we were sooo glad we had made that decision. We got married last weekend with 35 people and it couldn’t have been more perfect. It was just the people that meant the most to us and was so special!! Good luck in your planning Smiley smile

Congratulations! I'm glad that your day was perfect ❤️ And Thank you! Did you do a cocktail hour? Half of our guests will be in our bridal party since they're our siblings and we were just thinking should we have a cocktail hour. We don't want to do a first look so this would be our only time to take pictures but just wondering how it would be with a small amount of people. Any tips?

I’m thankful we had a micro wedding and were actually able to be married since we’ve had to cancel the “big” one twice now. We probably won’t ever get to have the big one because of circumstances in our family. But I still struggle with bouts of anger and jealousy and depression even 3 months later now. I am happy to be legally married and living together now though

We are having a small wedding with just our immediate family and our wedding party (and their SOs) because we don't want to postpone again. It comes out to about 40 people. There are a lot of people we wish could be there, but won't be able to. So out plan is to have a big causal reception down the road to celebrate with our family that can't be at the wedding.

I don't think we will have any regrets with this decision. You can only work with the situation you have and we are getting married in a Pandemic...

Aww , I'm sorry that you're having those feelings. Atleast you're able to recognize them, but I'm happy that you were still able to have your wedding!

Congratulations! & Yes I understand we have to work with what we have during this situation.. I just wanted to hear how everyone else's day went during this time who had a small wedding! We're having a small wedding and don't intend to have a bigger reception later so just wanted to get some feedback from others on things they did! ☺️

Hi I am one of those brides doing a micro wedding, and with just 19 days until the big day I’m worried I’m forgetting something. We are doing a small ceremony with just our family (11ppl total) and then we are having a catered dinner and then our wedding party is going to do a drive by happy hour where we will pass out cake (individually pre packaged) can’t be to careful during these times! Good luck I’m sure your wedding will be beautiful!!!
