Michaels Invitations? To print or not to print?

Blair, on February 15, 2012 at 9:27 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 26

Hi. I am trying to get a little bit better with my budget so I thought I would do my own invites. I have a couple 50% Michaels coupons so i was thinking of these: http://www.michaels.com/BRIDES-Calligraphy-Ivory-Black-Invitations/wd0701,default,pd.html?start=13&cgid=products-wedding-bridesexclusive-black&prefn1=color&prefv1=black

has anyone gone the Michaels route?

Oh those are pretty. My first batch of invitations was from Michaels. but I screwed them up in my printer and there went that. I had a hard time adjusting my printer settings

Those are beautiful! I'm using Vistaprint for my invites...150 invitations, inserts, and envelopes, all completely custom with linen finish for $120-150 (not sure of the final price yet)

I thought about completely DIYing mine, but I just decided that I'm committing to too many DIYs and I don't want to get overwhelmed

You might want to check out this company. They have invitations with raised ink and digital starting as low as $34.74 for 100 printed. They also do very high end at way below retail cost. We used them for our pocket invitations.

I had bugeted about $250 for invites and then had to take a hard look at all the other expenses. I had not factored in a cake topper (FH found one he has his heart set on) I also forgot shoes, headpiece/veil and even our wedding rings. Just bad planning and now I have to make small cuts where I can~with the coupon I can do the Michaels ones for $80

I also bought mine from Michael's, but I plan on test trying it on copies of the invites before I print them.

I think the invites are lovely. We bought our invites from Michaels and had them printed at Staples. Our wedding was a DW and was very laid back. We didn't spend more than $30 for the invites and printing for 100.

I got my invitations from Michaels as well. Spent about $40 on 100 of them. I am not sure yet where we are going to print them at. I don't want to spend a lot printing them but I am scared to print them at home. EeeK!

I got mine from Michael's ans printed them out myself , I loved how they came out and have received a lot of compliments on them.

Take your time checking them over and playing with the fonts before you print out your test page. They also come with an online template and are easy to customize.

My girls got my bachelorette party invites from Michaels and they said they were very easy to print out at home. I say go for it, they look great!

I got mine from Michaels. Two boxes of 50 for $20 each. They look good, but I'd think twice before getting invites that come with ribbon you tie yourself. It is a real hassle tying all of these bows!!

I got mine from Michael's and printed them myself. I cut a few pieces of regular white paper to the size of the invitation, downloaded the template that was on the website (listed on the invitation box) and went from there. I used the regular paper because I wanted to see different fonts with the flourishes/artwork/etc on the invitation. So I printed out a few different versions and then I was able to lay them on top of one of the invitations that it would eventually be printed on. Not only did that allow me to see the fonts with the flourishes but it also verified that I had the correct spacing. It was easy! Do it at home!!!

Oh-and there are so many websites where you can get gorgeous fonts to use! I downloaded quite a few new ones just for the invitations. And with printing them at home I was able to print the envelopes as well with the same font. They turned out really nice.

Well, I went to michaels and when I looked at them they were more yellow then ivory. Im having a black & white wedding with hints of turquoise so I ended up buying these instead. not my first choice in the world but I think once i add turquoise card stock and change the ribbon they'll be nice. Def worth the $60 they'll cost
