May sound shallow BUT too tall bridesmaid?

chocolategirl, on February 24, 2010 at 7:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 26

Okay, so I need another bridesmaid, and I have the perfect person to fill that spot. Here is the thing, she is 6 feet tall. I'm 5'4" and my bridesmaids are not taller than 5'6". My groomsmen are around 5'6" 5'7" (estimating but very close)... the best man is about 6 feet tall, but he wouldn't walk down the aisle right?

I don't want her to feel out of place in pictures or the person she is walking with (the groommens0 I figured if we do long dresses, she can wear flats, and I think it wouldn't matter in pics.

Would it be okay for her to walk with the Best Man or no? I'm thinking no because the best man is situated already.

My maid of honor is about my height , and shouldn't the maid of honor and best man be introduced together?

Helpme here

I want to ask her, i do but I don't want it to be awkward?

Am I thinking about this too much?

Yea pair her with the tallest! im tall- i know! it sucks being taller than everyone else....nothing i can do about it tho!! Lol...just my genetics!

mine are only walking together after the ceremony...so if she walks by herself...maybe she wont look outta place, and when she placed with someone her height, it wont look too odd.

Lol @ Julie... At least you get to be a model if you choose, I love America's Next Top model, and if I were younger... I'd still be too short

If she's that good of a friend, make it work. I'm 5'9'' and being tall can sometimes suck. Most of my bridesmaids are 5'3'' with one of them being 5'7''

First of all, you can have your processional any way you want. There is not a specific formula for how to walk down the isle. For example, all of my bridesmaids have boyfriends who are not in the wedding party, so I am not having them walk together because I would feel funny asking them to walk with someone who wasn't their boyfriend. Our groomsmen are processing in one at a time, groom, bridesmaids, me with my dad.

Second, I'm in a similar situation: all of my bridesmaids are taller than me by at least a couple of inches. While this doesn't really bother me, they have requested to wear flats during the ceremony so they won't be taller than me. But just because she's tall and things won't "look right" don't let that deter you from having a good friend in your wedding party. There are subtle ways to work around it. Smiley smile

LOL, Im kinda feelin the same way..I'm the tallest out of all my friends, I stand at 5'7", with the exception of one person who's 5'9ish....it soooo aggravates me!!! Stupid, I know, but if I didnt ask her to be a part of the bridal party, she would've been so offended!

.....my first reaction was how shallow but then I chuckled because I'd be such a hippocrit to judge! I'm 5 foot 8, my FH is 6 foot 3 and my maid of honor is 4 foot 10, barely taller than the 4 flower girls. I'd be lying if I said it didn't cross my mind that we're gonna be giants in oompa loompa land! lol But we're just laughing it off, we told our photographer and she will strategically pose us to minimize major height differences. I can't imagine anyone else being my MOH and that height difference has been there throughout our 15 year friendship so why make an issue of it now?

I don't see how it would matter - I don't think anyone will be paying attention to a height difference and I've never seen the bridesmaids and groomsmen walk down the aisle in couples, so that wouldn't look weird, either, if you split them up and kind of highlighted each of them.

Have her wear flats and all the other girls wear heels. lol she wont look THAT much taller in the pictures. And either let her walk alone or with your best man. It really doesnt matter what order they walk in. My girls are all being escorted by the groomsmen.

Have her wear flats. if the other girls are wearing 2 or 3 inch heels then she wont stand out as much. it is a little shallow, but this is a wedding. i think every bride gets a little shallow when it comes to their wedding. you want everything to look perfect right?

You guys seriously think about height when picking your wedding party? I didn't think about that at all... I was thinking about "Who's Stuck by me through tough times?" and "Who can help remove any ex's who crash the party?"
