March 21st, 2020 Covid-19

Hi everyone I am getting married in 6 days in San Diego. Right now, I am good to go all of my vendors are still on board. We have only lost maybe 15 people (145 total currently) after sending out a email telling them we totally understand if they were not comfortable or able to attend. However, I am absolutley besides myself with guilt. I feel that if I do not postpone I am being selfish and contributing to the possible spread of this disease. I do not have a high number of elderly attending, but my grandmother is deadset on attending and is not concerned about the risk.

Are there any other brides out there suffering like me? Feeling like having your wedding is irresponsible? I would love to hear from anyone getting married this coming saturday as well.

Thank you so sorry to all of you beautiful brides struggling through this, with this extra added layer.

I totally understand where you’re coming from on this. My wedding is also 3/21/20. Everything is still going as planned and we only have 65 guests. None have cancelled so far. We are only going to be reaching out to the elderly and letting them know that if they’re not comfortable coming that there are no hard feelings. I, too, feel very guilty. But at this point we have no option to postpone so we are still moving forward.

Man I’m so sorry this is happening to you. Where are you getting married? Like what city? Do you think your elderly population will cancel or continue?

We’re getting married in Grand Rapids, Mi. I have a back up plan of getting married in my parents backyard if the venue happens to cancel but as of Friday they were not. I think about half of the elderly people will cancel. There are people like my grandparents and FH’s parents that I think will continue on regardless of the risk they are both incredibly excited. Both are local though - within 2 hour driving distance.

Thank you so much for talking with me. You’ve made me feel so much better. Of course this is a burden that only the brides during this time could understand, I don’t think it will go away. My grandma is so excited and is also local as well. I think I have to be strong for them and shoulder this. I wish you so much happiness and health at your wedding.

We're 3/28. I'm an only grandchild, and have one living grandparent. Her nursing home is on lockdown. We went from no videographer, to getting a professional broadcast crew come in to stream it online. So wild.
We're nearish St. Louis area. So far we've had people from Milwaukee, Indianapolis, and Atlanta cancel. But I also have people who were originally traveling cancel their plans and ask to come. So I'm having a hard time keeping track of my guest list at this point.
I spoke to my venue yesterday, so far, no cancellation on that end.Getting our marriage license Tuesday, meeting with photographer Tuesday, party bus final payment due Wednesday.Meeting with officiant next Sunday, and meeting with catering and bakery next week. I'm just going with the flow.I have no intention of cancelling. But realize my reception may get pushed back. Then we're just waiting to see if our mid/late April honeymoon trip and cruise is still on.

My wedding is also March 21st and also lost 15 people so far, mainly elderly which we completely understand. With the new CDC Guideline, I dont know what will happen.

Hi Andy! April 18th bride here, also getting married in San Diego! As of right now, we’re still planning on getting married. We’ll make a final decision by the first week of April. A lot of things can change and we’re praying and staying positive. Where in SD are you getting married?

Ugh girl, I’m struggling with the guilt so hard right now. Our wedding date is 4/25/2020 and we haven’t even thought about cancelling, but I’m going to talk to our vendor tomorrow to see what’s all going on. We only have a few elderly people we invited. I’m nervous, worried and scared. I’m trying to be as hopeful as I can, but this forum is definitely making me feel better. Thank you guys!

My bridesmaids is getting married March 22nd and we are in NY. It’s been bad here and I have a few chronic illness issues that put me on one of the highest level of contraction list and I’m still gonna attend hers as long as she isn’t forced to post pone. I’m getting married in October and my bridesmaid is one of my bridal party members who is likely to end up contributing and planning a few things as she’s the one who has the extra money and she’s one of my best friends so I’m okay with the risk. I know what to do to keep my self safe and as someone who is at high risk and probably wouldn’t make it through the Virus If I got it, I refuse to be apart of the madd hysteria. The best vaccine anyone has right now is washing hands and covering mouths. It’s not like you’re in a massive space really close to everyone and you have a good idea of your guest list and the risk of transmitting or getting it so I don’t think you are doing anything wrong. If you are allowed then have your wedding!!!

You’re not alone! We’re supposed to be getting married in San Clemente (right next to San Diego) next Sunday. We’d had a lot of cancellations in the past few days (about a third of our guests) but were still begrudgingly moving forward until the CDC announced its recommendation that all events (including weddings) with 50+ guests be cancelled. That was the “sign” that we’d been waiting for. We’re obviously heartbroken and probably going to lose a ton of money if cancelling, but at this point we don’t truly have a choice. I’m pretty sure that a mandatory ban will go into effect by the end of the week, so either way our wedding won’t be happening.

Mine was supposed to be the 26th. I just cancelled it. Mostly mad that I spent so much time and money on planning something that won’t happen. And hoping I can still go on my “honeymoon”. 🤣

Yea, mine is May 23, and after the CDC announcement today, it’s highly likely we will need to postpone it.

Still getting married though (courthouse). I wonder if the county clerks office does teleconference weddings? 😛

My wedding is March 21st as well and after a lot of tears and discussion we have decided to postpone the wedding reception part. I still have to contact all my vendors and hope they are available for a later date since it’s all day by day. We will still be getting married through church and I will only have my court and both our parents and siblings and photographer and videographer and that’s it. It’s sad but the only important part for me was getting married, we just wanted to limit the amount of people and many cancelled that I couldn’t imagine celebrating without! We will just get a blessing and say our vows again for the day of and celebrate once again later ❤️
