March 2021 wedding; when should invites go out?

Kimberly, on July 27, 2020 at 1:02 AM Posted in Planning 0 9
I realize I have plenty of time to figure this out, but I’m a planner. I’m struggling to figure out when to send our invitations. Wedding is a stateside DW March 13, 2021. We sent STDs in April of this year and have information on our website already. Final count has to be in by March 1st. So going back 8 weeks puts us at Christmas. Should I send a couple weeks before Christmas or wait until first of the year even though that shortens the usual wedding invite timeframe?

That’s a tough call. I’d probably be inclined to send them right after Christmas so they had less of a chance of getting forgotten about in the holiday hustle and bustle.

I would send them early December before the holidays - personally I'm always a fan of sending invitations out sooner rather than later. In any event, people are horrible when it comes to RSVPing and you will likely still need to chase people for their response regardless of when you send the invites out Smiley tongue

I would send them out a little sooner, maybe early December? I agree with avoiding sending the invites out right at the holidays, though if you send them out after the holidays and somehow they get lost/delayed in the mail, people would have even less time to reply in that scenario. It couldn't hurt to send them out a little early.

I think many have noted this already and agree. I'd avoid the holidays as there is much stress during that time and would be inclined to send them directly after the holidays when people are back home and things back to normal (post holidays).

We are also March 2021 and we need our headcount by Feb 19th. I was originally planning on sending invitations early November with a Feb 1st RSVP deadline (wanted them out before the holidays and it's a DW so wanted to give more time for people to plan) but now with concerns about COVID I'm thinking we will send them beginning of January with a slightly later RSVP deadline.

I am also getting married in March the Saturday after you. We need out head count two weeks before our wedding and were planning on sending them out the first week in January I believe. But the earlier the better.

I was thinking early December just to give them plenty of time. I’m hoping people have thought about lodging because Gatlinburg gets pretty booked in March. We didn’t do a hotel block because we don’t have enough guests to fill one.

That’s a good point! What if they got lost in the mail or delayed. Ugh!

I thought that at first but I worry about guests lodging as we didn’t do a hotel block because we don’t have enough guests for one. Lisa had a good point that they could be delayed in the mail if we wait until January. What to do! What to do!
