Make-up Artist Wants to Start at 7:30 am?!

Well, we started at 8:00am I had 2 mua/hairstylists, but there was also a lot of us that needed to be done. Me plus 5 of my BM's, my mom and my flower girl. I too had concerns that my make-up wouldn't look as good. But my MUA was AMAZING. So if you have a good one then you should be great!!! Good Luck.

How many people do you have? Is she doing both hair and make up? The thing is that you should get your hair done first. Unless she's doing both, and you have very many people who're using her services, that's really early.

As far as I"m concerned, it's never too early to start hair and makeup. It takes longer than anyone thinks, and you don't want to be rushed. If you trust your pro, take her word for it.

There are 5 of us, and she is only doing make-up (I have a seperate hair person)...should've mentioned that.

I'm mostly worried about the way it will look later on...which is probably silly. Thanks for all the responses so far!

It's not silly. I had an awesome MUA, and my makeup held up really well. But of course it looked much better earlier in the day. Another thing to consider is then when should the first person be on location to have her makeup done, and how long will it take her to get there?

Well our ceremony was at 2pm and we started makeup and hair at 9 am. myself four bridesmaids two jr bridesmaids and a flower girl and we were done by noon to start photos

You said the wedding starts at 2:45pm - I assume that is when you anticipate the ceremony to start.

Let's assume you'll be at the venue ready to go at 2:00pm.

Are you doing pictures at the venue before hand? Will she come to you, or are you caravaning from your houses to a salon and then to the ready area/venue?

It may seem early, but there's a lot of things brides cram in to the schedule before the wedding, and I'd give yourself as much buffer as you can get! On the day of, I'm sure you'd prefer to have down time rather than be rushing things along and worried about timing.

We are starting at 8 am as well....It takes several hours to do make up and hair. I'd rather give her the time she needed so it turns out great. I'm doing airbrush make up as well.

ETA: Airbrushed make up is made to last for long events like weddings. I wouldn't worry about it holding up, that is the main reason brides choose that route, not to mention if photographs beautifully.

It does seem a little early since you have someone separate for hair. Assuming it takes an hour each person, she'll be done by 12:30, leaving a two hour buffer. But those time buffers do get used quite often in weddings (people are late, get lost, someone wants makeup done differently), so don't be surprised if your make up finishes right on time.

PS. Go last so your makeup is fresh.

Maybe you could ask her for a touch up kit for later (if she doesn't provide one already)? My makeup artist (she's my bestfriend's sister-in-law) gives one to all of her brides and bridesmaids. It usually includes the lipstick/gloss she used, blotting papers (for oily skin and sweating) and sometimes the foundation.

Wake up, shower, EAT breakfast

7:00 drive

7:30 - 9:30 Hair

9:30 eat snack

10-11 make-up

11:30 drive

12 get into dress

12:30 do bridal pictures

1:00 do shots with family

1:30 do shots with wedding party

2:00 drive to ceremony

2:20 potty break, snack & touch ups

2:35 line up

2:45 ceremony

Looks like it all fits to me.... and you want wiggle room

My wedding was at 3 and we started hair and makeup at 7am. 5 girls + myself were getting hair and makeup done (there was a separate artist for hair and makeup). We needed to be done by 12:30 to get "getting ready shots" and family photos out of the way. We didn't do a first look and left for the church at 2pm.

Mine is starting 8am there is 5 BM and me 4 out of the 6 of us has long hair I have a separate MÛA and hair dressers my ceremony is at noon we want to be back and get dress plus pictures

Wow @Jackie ~ that seems to be pushing it close... I hope there are a LOT of hair dressers to get 3 of you done at once.

You need to account for drive time, the fact that all of your BM probably won't show up on time, the time it takes to get IN the dress 30 - 40 min with buttons/corset ribbons. I'd push it back if I was you.

Makeup application should take on average 30 minutes per person. If you can schedule each girl with an appointment time, it will make things flow smoother. I notice time is wasted waiting for a bridesmaid who is in the lobby, shower, smoking, etc. Keeping them on a tight schedule creates a mroe stress free atmoshphere. I suggest to do the bride's makeup closer to the actual ceremony time. But not too close in case of unforeseen interuptions.

With a 2:45pm wedding and 5 girls, I personally would begin at 11am. But this may not be enough time for an inexperienced makeup artist. However, it should not take her more than an hour a person.

Allow enough time to get in your dress. If you are having pre-ceremony photos done, just back up the time frame. If you need to travel to the ceremony site, same thing.

There are alot of variables to consider here. If you are unsure, call her and ask her why she wants to start at 7.30am.

Does she have other appointments that day?

My ceremony is at 4.30pm, but we are doing our first look at 2.30pm, so I want to be ready by 2.00pm (relax, have a champagne, walk to meet FH) & we are all getting ready at the venue (on site lodges)

For myself, two bridesmaid, and one junior bridesmaid, for both hair & make-up they advised a start time of 9.30am-10am to be finished by 1.15pm, to be dressed by 2.00pm.

To add on our two mothers they suggested to start at approx 7.45am.

They usually allow 45 mins per person, ( 35mins for the Mothers ) (Hair & Airbrush make-up)

For my cousin's wedding hair artist turned up at 9.00am and make-up artist turned up at 10.00am. They were done by midday (bride, two bridesmaids, mother of the bride) for a 4.30pm ceremony (no first glance)... so we sat around for hours all dolled up on a stinking hot day.

They came so early because they had other appointments that day!

For my daughters wedding, we started hair and make up at 10am, for a 4:30pm wedding. Photos took place at 2:30pm.

Only two of us were coiffed and made up by Carl, but he did do touch ups on the BM's.

In our case, the entire process was done at the hotel, so, no travel time to calculate.

7:30 for a 2:45 ceremony sounds right.
