Major life changes, pt 2

Becca, on June 9, 2019 at 5:26 AM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 4

So several months ago I posted that on top of wedding planning, I was applying for a job in a different state. Well, I got it! I will be moving just 2 weeks before the wedding ( 1 month from now) and starting said new job. New wrench into the plan, my landlord decided to sell the house I am living in so I am in the process of moving while now showing a house which is a pain. Now my fiance has told me that he wants to change his airline he works for (he is a pilot) which would mean moving again. Not an easy thing to move from Alaska to the lower 48 in the first place while being able to get a job down there, but now he would most likely have to move to a new base. To say the stress bucket is full is an understatement! This week alone we were about 1 min away from cancelling the whole thing because it is just too much. What do you all do to "de-stress"?

When I am feeling super stressed I try to take a step back from whatever it is stressing me out and take the day, or even just a couple of hours if I can't take the entire day, and just focus on doing things for myself such as taking a nap, going for a walk, watching a movie, going to Target and just wandering around for an hour, etc. It sounds so simple but if you are able to detach yourself from what is stressing you out for a little while it makes it so much easier to revisit it once you have a clearer head. We are getting married in two weeks, just bought a house and are moving 3 weeks after the wedding, I started a new job in March, and FH started a new job last week so we have A LOT going on. However, FH and I always make it a priority to spend time (both apart and together) doing things that make us happy and relieve the stress from everything going on. It definitely has worked for us as people keep saying to us how they can't imagine how we are doing all of these things at once, and they can't believe how chill we are lol. I think just making yourself a priority is key.

So true! It was nice because he was able to come up here for more than just one day this last week. We went for a hike and it was so nice; exactly what I needed. I totally relate to the stress you're under. That is a lot of good perspective and totally true that we need to just detach.
