Maid of Honor wants to stand out help!

chocolategirl, on March 27, 2010 at 2:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

How can my maid of honor stand out without wearing a different dress. Both of us love the dresson her... but she wants to stand out from the bridesmaids... understandable but what are my options

What are your wedding colors? Can she be in a color that is different than the other bridesmaids and still fit with your wedding colors?

Have her wear a different color like she said above, or maybe make her bouquet different from the others.

I have seen some MoH's with a larger bouquet than that of the bridesmaids but still smaller than the bride's.

My MOH is wearing a longer dress and is having a slightly better bouquet than my BM's. We are also getting her a sash to wear.

Or you can add a sash or something to the dress of a different color to make her stand out.

I would say if the dress is as perfect as is, to modify her bouquet with different flowers or just slightly bigger.

My MOH is wearing gloves with her dress- sounds like a small detail- but definetly does it's job in making her stand out from the BM's.

My best guess is different accesories and/or flowers. You can use different colors to set her off as special too.

You can try changing the length of her dress. For instance, my maids are gonna wear long gowns and my MOH is gonna wear the same gown but short. Or she can wear a nice floral piece in her hair or for my sister's wedding..she had her MOH's bouquet wrapped in blue ribbon (one of her colors) and the bridesmaids bouquets were wrapped in yellow (her other color). You can also add a sash or belt around her waist in a different color..that look is in right not

You can also do her hair differently from the others or give her a hair accessory that makes her stand out from the others. I'm doing that plus giving her a different bouquet.

I have the same dilemma... and appreciate the feedback above. Will probably go with differences in the bouquet. Thanks everyone.

What about like a wrap or something to wear over her shoulders?

I'm going to be making her bouquet a smaller version of mine, so that it's a little different

FH and I are just starting our wedding planning and have heard more than a few stories about planning/attire drama. Wanting to head off any possible attire issues with my bridal party, I simplified it by allowing my girls (Matron and 2 bridesmaids) to pick out their own dresses in whatever budget works for them, in any length they wanted, provided the dresses are black (accent color to be added separately) and appropriate. I told my Matron that I wouldn't mind if she stood out from the other two girls with a small amount of bling on the dress (within reason). If that's not what you have in mind, consider having your MOH wear a different hairstyle, slightly fancier jewelry, or a slightly larger bouquet.

    Hope this helps.
