Maid of Honor-do i need one?

You don't need a maid of honor if you don't want one! If you just want bridesmaids, you could totally choose only bridesmaids.

I think that’s fine to not have a maid of honor

I say it's no big deal! I don't think anyone will really notice or care that you are "missing" a Maid of Honor. If your family is concerned, you should sit down and explain your reasoning to them (if it's important to you that they are on board with your decision!). At the end of the day though, it's your wedding and the decision is yours to make.

No you don't need a maid of honor. Even if you were to decide you want one, pick who you want rather than someone your family is insisting you pick. It's your wedding so it is not up to them.

I agree with everyone else! It’s not like they all walk in with a sign claiming they’re the MOH! Lol! I think you have a fabulous idea so you don’t hurt anyone’s feelings.

You are the one getting married so you make the final decision. Your family can want anything but that won't make it happen and someone else can do things differently when it's their turn.


Make sure that you abide by your state's regulations for legal witnesses to sign documentation. Anything beyond that is completely optional.

I didn’t have a maid of honor for my wedding but just asked different bridesmaids to be in charge of certain things, so everyone knew what to do. I was the same way and didn’t want to pick and hurt any feelings. Just know if you do have your bridal party stand next to you at the ceremony, you’re still going to have to pick who will be the girl standing right next to you which is usually the maid of honor. One of my friends really stepped up through out my whole wedding process and did almost everything so it made it pretty easy for me to pick once the wedding came along since she pretty much took the responsibilities of a MOH without me even asking. I ended up having my brother say my speech

You definitely don’t need one! You just need to be sure to have someone to sign the marriage license. If you plan to have a bouquet, a bridesmaid will have to hold it during the ceremony. Beyond that, there’s no reason you have to single out one bridesmaid. You also don’t have to have speeches at all. If you want to have them, you can ask anyone you’d like. We asked my uncle to give one at our wedding.

I did not have one. I just had bridal party members (bridesmaids and bridesman). I did not feel the need to single one person out when I truly love all of them so much!

Sameee. I'm not having a MOH just 4 bridesmaids and I feel great about it. Actually we'll have 5 groomsmen with 2 BM so we're just totally not following any rules lol
