Magnet Save the Dates sticking together and addressing them. Need advice and recommendations

givemetheD, on March 24, 2017 at 11:45 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

I'm preparing to send out save the dates magnets but they're sticking to eachother even once they're in the envelopes. Should I worry about this or do you think the post office will make sure they separate them? Did anyone else that sent magnets experience this and did you do anything to prevent it? Also did you guys hand write the addresses or have them printed on?

Can you add a small piece of card stock behind the magnets in the envelopes? This might add a little more of a barrier to the magnetic side.

@goskell, I thought about doing something like that but wasn't sure if it'd be weird to have some random blank card in the envelope

I had the same issue. We wrapped ours in tissue gift wrap in our wedding color before putting them in the envelopes. We made sure to fold the sides over the magnet side to double cover. It worked and we even got compliments on the cute "finishing touch". And I hand addressed ours.

@MrsV2Be- that's a great and inexpensive idea. I love it! I might just do that too. Thanks Smiley smile

Use wax paper behind the magnet and it shouldn't stick as much! Cheap and I'm sure you already have some in your kitchen Smiley smile

I agree a piece of tissue paper wouldn't be weird at all. Whatever you do don't put them in the blue metal post office boxes!

I purchased mine from minted and didn't have a problem. They did come with a small white sheet between each magnet but i took that off when I sent them. Also minted had free addressing so I went with that and loved it!

Mine stuck together but everyone got theres, just make sure you hand them to the post office people. Don't just drop them in a mailbox, they may stick.

MNbride and Jillian - you bring up a great point. I didn't think of that at all. I will drop them off at the actual post office

Mine stuck a little but I didn't put anything in the envelopes. I handed them to the postman at the post office and they all reached their destinations (as far as I know).
