Lost Wedding Invitation in Mail?

FutureMrs223, on December 12, 2017 at 8:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 23

Has anyone sent out invitations and had people say they haven't received it in the mail? I dropped off all my invitations directly to the post office almost 2 weeks before thanksgiving and have had people not get them and let me know but as my rsvp date approaches I'm worried that more people may have not gotten them and I only have 14 spare invitations left. Anyone have a similar experience?

Did you weigh them and ensure there is the correct amount of postage?

Haven't sent invites out yet, but knee if muy friends didn't get greet STD for 3 weeks. I was about to serve another one out when she finally got it. For this reason, we're including an online RSVP option (emailing, not website) to try and make sure we get an accurate head count.

I sent my invites out November 3rd. I have friends and family that never got the invite, and they haven't moved. Have a back up plan, like they can RSVP through a website and send them the link if they haven't received it close to the deadline.

I didn't think of the rsvp through the website that's actually very smart

@susanK yes I did. I sent out about 150 invitations a lot of people received them it wasn't an issue of weight I don't believe. I got two back today that were completely ruined by the post office I got so upset considering I spent a decent amount of money on them.

We only had 1 not receive theirs. We spoke to him today and he had moved after giving us his address. Most people are just to rude to give an RSVP without a nudge.

My friend had a big problem with this. Some people in the same city she mailed them did not receive the invitation. I had to reassure a mutual friend that the invitation was mailed because she thought she had been uninvited after the STDs went out.

I had a situation whereby ppl said they didn't receive the invitation...come to find out some didn't recognize my hubbys government name, they always called him by his nickname since childhood...and these are 1st cousins, (go figure) so they tossed the invite...lol. One other couple that I contacted after the rsvp deadline said their grandbaby chewed the invite up...hmm so they rsvp yes in the phone call but was still a no-show. At the end we still said I do in my hubbys goberment name. My hubby had some funny conversations during the reception when folk whispered to him they never knew his real name...#cousins...haha gotta love em.

Not surprised with the post office, sadly. I know someone who had a major issue with her invites because she had a dark colored envelope and the addresses were hard to read. Hopefully that's not the case with yours.

Lol, not with wedding invites but I have one friend who cannot send me mail without it going missing. I’ve lived at the same address for 5 years.

We didn't have any "lost" ones but one did end up being sent back to our house, despite having proper postage and legible writing. Not sure why it happened, but it took over 3 weeks to make its way back to us. The post office can be tricky for sure! I hope that no other invitations of yours have gone missing! People usually wait until the last minute to send back RSVPs.

I had this happen with some STDs. They came back to us after a few weeks with a sticker on them saying "Return to Sender, No Such Number, Unable to Forward" even though it was the correct address. Mail can be weird sometimes.

Between holidays and California fires, depending on where you are and where they're going, it may be a bit. California is often a mail/shipping hub much like airports have. A lot of things are being redirected.

I lost several in the mail! Our mail here is terrible. I have an aunt who is not speaking to me, which sucks, but whatever. The US Postal Service sucks.

At least one of my friends didn't get hers. It made me really glad I sent out save the dates, and made me hope people would feel comfortable reaching out if they got a save the date but no invite.

Luckily my friend happened to be in Chicago (where I live) for a work conference a month or so before my wedding, so we got together for dinner and it came up in conversation. Since she lives in Washington state and the wedding was in Missouri, she may not have ever gotten the info until I reached out to people I didn't get rsvps from, had we not happened to be able to get together.
