Longest Married Couple Dance:: Suggestion Please!

*SoonToBeMrs.Kelly*, on May 5, 2012 at 12:09 AM Posted in Planning 0 19

We are going to do a special dance for the longest married couple. The DJ is going to ask all the married couple to get up and ask people who have been married 5 years or less to move back, 10 years or less do the same and so on. When we get to the longest I am going to give them a special thing of flowers and have them do a special dance. We already know its FH's one grandparents(going on 60 years). I cant find the perfect song for that dance! I really want it to be a old song, nothing newer. Like Etta James, Frank Sinatra, ect. I want it to be unique. Any ideas?

"After All These Years" by Journey

    https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-songs/anniversary-music/after-all-these-years/63f17e94385ee3f5.html

We were going to use this song until we decided against that Anniversary dance due to the longest married couple will not be able to dance that long.

I wish we old do that... But both of our families have divorced parents. Adm can't have grandparents do it either since the ones that are coming have deceased spouses Smiley sad would have been fun to do though

We used "Remember When" by Alan Jackson. It's a beautiful song and I thought it was perfect. This song is almost 10 years old so I am not sure if this too new for you. :/

Harvest Moon-Neil Diamond. Its about a man and woman and how after all this time, he is still in love with her and always has been.

Most of the songs mentioned may not be known by a couple married a long time...Unforgettable by Nat King Cole, I do like The Best is yet to Come.......but I think a slower one works better. Can't Help Falling in Love by Elvis is another good one.

I know this is super late. And years years later! But I’m thinking of doing the same and actually having them dance to their own wedding song. Gonna just bring it up in casual convo with them

Not sure if you are wanting country or how old for it to be. But when reading your post the first song I thought of was Forever and Ever Amen by Randy Travis but it is not a super slow song either.

This is what we're planning to use:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCj96k1A95g

I'm gonna love you, like no one loves you
    Come rain or come shine
High as a mountain, deep as a river
    Come rain or come shine
I guess when you met me
It was just one of those things
    But don't ever bet me
'Cause I'm gonna be true if you let me
You gonna love me, like no one love me
    Come rain or come shine
    Happy together, unhappy together
    Wouldn't it be fine
Days may be cloudy or sunny
We're in or we are out of the money, yeah
    But I'm with you always
I'm with you rain or shine
You gonna love me, like nobody's loved me
    Come rain or come shine
    Happy together, unhappy together
    Wouldn't it be fine
Days may be cloudy or sunny
We're in or we are out of the money, yeah
    I'm with you always
I'm with you rain or shine

I'm a DJ with hundreds of these dances under my belt.

Open the dancefloor to all the couples married or not. In the first 45 seconds, kick off the unmarried first but remember to invite them back at another time...lol

First song: Then - Brad Paisley Obvious and perfect lyric for an older married couple.

Second song: Have I told you lately - Rod Stewart This is a no-brainer.

Make sure your DJ understands the timing of this dance. "Then" is a 5+ minute song. "Have I told you lately" is 4 minutes. The Michael Buble' version is only 3:30.
