My fiance proposed on January 26th 2019. This is my second marriage and we are paying for everything ourselves, so we're planning a longer than traditional engagement to allow ourselves to budget and save up slowly as opposed to going broke planning the wedding. We also both work over 40 hours a week and don't have a ton of time to devote to the planning

Our wedding date is 1/2/21, anyone else have a long engagement planned?

We have several reasons for our long engagement we are both young (23 and 24) and because California is SO expensive it is hard for us to move in together so we want to do that first. I'm also in school so I would like to focus on graduating college before the wedding. I feel like a long engagement is just perfect for us to get settled and funds saved to really enjoy planning and having our big day!

Sounds like so much fun! I'm a Navy Vet and I was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan for 3 years. It's incredible. You're NEVER bored and the food is ridiculously amazing.

My fiancé proposed to me in 2016 and we are getting married in November of 2020. The only thing we have accomplished as far as planning is that we finally set a date and put a deposit down on our venue. Fortunately and unfortunately, my Mom is the one who devotes most of the time to planning but, if not for her, we wouldn't be very far. We are thinking of hiring a coordinator to help hone in on the wedding vision since it's been a long time of researching and pinning a ton on Pinterest.

We’re getting married in September 2021 and just got engaged. We wanted to have a long engagement so that we could have a large enough savings for all of the vendors we want. It also gives us an edge on getting everything we want since we’re planning so far out. It also gives me (a bit type A) a chance to plan everything without stressing too much since we both have full-time jobs!

My fiancé proposed on August 4th, 2018 and we had originally planned to get married May 2nd, 2020 but because of a few family and financial issues we pushed it back to October 3rd, 2020 so now over a two year engagement but we don’t care either way lol, just excited to get married ♥️

    Hi!

We got engaged April 13th,2019 and my fiancé and I are also doing a longer than normal engagement as well. We are planning for the wedding on July 24,2021. We chose that date 1) to be able to finance our wedding and 2) i am the maid of honor in my bffs wedding in September of this year, so I wanted to be able to truly help her enjoy one of the best days of her life as well as enjoy my own wedding without having to cut anything out due to funds. We both also work full time jobs and can’t take off too many days since we just started working at these jobs.😌

By the time we get married on Oct 6 of this year we will have been engaged for 2.5 years. Paying for everything ourselves as well so the time has helped us save. We got the final numbers in today and it’s crunch time! Congrats! Enjoy the journey!

We got engaged Jan 2 2019, and are getting married Late May 2021. I'm in school full time and we have a 2 1/2 year old and I have a 6 year old. We are paying for everything ourselves, we get to enjoy the planning process and I love that we aren't stressed and time crunching trying to figure everything out. I don't want to go into debt over it, but we have things that are important to us. We aren't getting married locally, so we have a chance to make fun trips to our destination. I found a great venue, I'm not stressed about making a deposit RIGHT NOW because the chance of it being booked on that date 2 years from now are so slim at the second. I have a month or two to come up with it! We get to plan the day WE want, not everyone else. This is my second marriage, first one was a courthouse wedding. I refuse that and want to have the day I've always wanted while not spending insane amounts of money. Which with our timeline is going to be totally possible!

We got engaged on December 2,2018. We haven't really picked a date but I would hope for 2021 or 2022. We are also saving up too.

My engagement was 16 months! We are now down to 2!!! But we had the same thought process of making small and slow payments. We also both work over 40 hours a week, so it gave us time to actually do some planning.
The great thing about your date is you'll have double Black Fridays to use for wedding stuff!!!

We got engaged on April 20th although we have talked about our wedding for months prior. We initially planned for October of 2021 because of logistic reasons however we decided that I will just move in now and do the extra 2 hours a day of driving for taking my son to school and picking him up. He will be driving in about a year a half so it will be a crappy short term driving issue. My son and I already stay 3 days a week with him so we are getting use to the commute. So with that said, we also have been married before and but I still wanted a wedding but cannot afford one right now. We decided to have a small ceremony with only parents and brothers, sister in laws and my son. We will have it at a small venue and we will wear our wedding attire so it will feel complete. But next year we will have a huge reception and party for all of our friend and families. Best of both worlds!

We got engaged in January 2019, we are looking to probably set our date for May or October 2021. We wanted time to save and plan, as well as we have 3 different friends who are also getting married in 2020 and didn't want to have to worry about competing with their dates or what not. We have been a couple for 12 years so we figure what can an extra year hurt just being engaged.

I got engaged in February, and as of yet we don't have a set date but hope to be able to be married by 2021. Like you we are low on funds and time, and need to plan everything on our own.

I'm a single mom & have been married already once before. My first marriage was abusive & rushed and I didn't get to plan anything. I wanted to have the wedding of my dreams as well as do it right this time. We aren't in any rush and want our love to take a more "natural course" I guess. And he plan on adopting my son soon after oir wedding which takes time but we're so excited for this next step in our lives❤

We have picked the date of 06.19.2021. We are paying for everything, this is his 3rd wedding but my first. We wanted to wait due to there is a family member getting married next year. We also are looking forward to be able to fulfill everything that we want by having the extra time to save and prepare. I am still at the cuff of whether or not I should get the dress that i want now or wait til next year. Anyone have any suggestions on if i should wait or just go for it an do alterations?

My fiancé proposed to my in May of 2019 we choose 2021 for the same reasons as you I’m a preschool teacher and he’s a truck driver, so we both have a lot of things going at work. Plus financially We are doing ourselves. We need time to save so we could have the wedding we want to have.

My fiance proposed to me the day before my baby shower for our second son last month. We decided we want to get married in May 2021 since I am already a bridesmaid in two other weddings in 2020 and we wanted to just be able to focus on our own wedding without the stress of being in two others. We've already been together for 5 years and have 2 kids together as well as his daughter from a previous relationship so the kids will keep us plenty busy until then. haha
