My fiance proposed on January 26th 2019. This is my second marriage and we are paying for everything ourselves, so we're planning a longer than traditional engagement to allow ourselves to budget and save up slowly as opposed to going broke planning the wedding. We also both work over 40 hours a week and don't have a ton of time to devote to the planning

Our wedding date is 1/2/21, anyone else have a long engagement planned?

    Hello everyone,

My fiancé proposed to me on Super bowl Sunday 2/3/2019. It was awesome. Being his job will have him traveling this year and most of next year we wanted to wait until that following year. We wanted a spring wedding so we picked 5/1/2021... We are so excited. We are planning an untraditional wedding which means we got to think outside the box ( no flowers at all) LOL. This is both our second wedding and we cannot wait.

My fiancé and I chose to have a long engagement way before we even got engaged, lol. We both work pretty demanding schedules and always wanted to purchase a home before getting married. So having a long engagement is giving us time to buy a home and plan slowly for our wedding. We just got engaged in March of 2019 and we’re looking to get married in 2021!

My fiancé and I chose June 2021 because he’s currently deployed and we don’t want to rush to get married just to have him leave right after the wedding. It’s less stress on us and everyone else if we do it that way.

Yessss. 2021 Bride here. My fiancé and I have been together for five years. We went to Paris in March and he proposed to me there. We decided to wait two years because we are the ones paying for our whole wedding. His parents don’t have the means to help and my dad passed away last October so my mom doesn’t have the means to help. This way, it’s less stress and a longer time to save in order to have the wedding we want on a budget. I’d love to hear everyone else’s stories!

We chose this 4-24-2021 because the same we both work over 40hrs a week, and we are paying for everything ourselves, then that gives us time to get the house we want, furnish, and be set and great by that time... plus I want EVERYTHING to be perfect, and I think I would have it perfect or close to perfect at that time

My fiance and I are planning to get married on June 12, 2021 even though we got engaged in March 2019 because even though I graduate from college in May, he still has another year left. We also thought that giving it a year after his graduation would give him enough time to find a good starting job and for us to focus on planning together.

We're waiting for some of the same reasons as others: longer time to plan, less stress. And also we had a baby 6 months before my partner proposed, and I want her to be old enough to participate in the ceremony, since she is what brought us together. Plus, why rush such a fun and unique moment in life? It seems odd to me that the moment someone proposes to me, I should suddenly dedicate my life to this planning.

We got engaged 4/6/2019 and our date is 10/23/21. We are saving money with waiting and he is in PA school so we will wait until he’s almost done with that! Did not realize how expensive they are...

My fiancé and I are in our early 20’s (I’m about to be 21 in July he turns 20 in September) and we’re both in college. A longer engagement gives him time to get a secure job and gives us time to save up. Plus it would be so nice to be able to have alcohol lol

May 8, 2021 here. I didn't want to rush or have to struggle to pay for our wedding since we're doing it all on our own.

My fiancé and I are getting Married July 10,2021. We decided on a long engagement because we both want a big wedding. We have both been married before and my last wedding was in my living room and his wasn’t anything big plus his ex wife was almost an hour late to their wedding. We have known each other for over five years, started dating in January and he proposed the middle of April. I’ve been looking at a wedding planner because I have no idea where to start or when to start. No idea on what venues to use or should I do buffet or sit down. What is everyone else doing

My finance proposed on Feb 9, 2019. The reason we are waiting is due to financial reasons. I just finished nursing school and will be graduating next week. Yay!

He is currently serving in the military. He is stationed in the U.S (thank goodness), but he is in a different state than me, therefore, with the process of finishing school, moving, and starting my new job are we not financially stable to put money toward a wedding. We are gathering ideas and looking at venus, but that's the extent of it all. The earliest we will be married is Apirl 2021.

Well my guy and I chose a longer engagement because we want to get all of our ducks in a row so to speak before saying "I do". We dont want to start our new lives with a mountain of bills. So we started with a joint bank account to pay for our small wedding and honeymoon. We are in the process of getting a home, cars to accommodate our new life, as well as other things like marriage license, name change, new I'd, etc. Combining families is more than a notion, so to reduce the stress of it all we are giving ourselves time to get even the smallest details handled before we become one...
