Local wedding venue closes due to foreclosure, won't return deposits

Corinne S, on April 23, 2013 at 2:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

It's been a while since I have been on here but I wanted to share this article with all you lovely ladies and gents. I feel so bad for these brides whose wedding venue is not only closing after this weekend but they will not be getting their money back.

http://www.azcentral.com/community/chandler/articles/20130422chandler-wedding-venue-says-will-close.html

Please please please read all of your contracts before signing. I was a bride whose wedding photographer cancelled on us 1 month before the wedding and thank goodness the contract stated if the photographer cancelled we would get a refund.

Feel so bad for these couples.

That happened here in MD as well. There was a place that didn't have the proper zoning and were still booking weddings eventhough they knew they wouldn't be able to hold them. Its so sad!

Tiffany P- that is awful. That is what this venue did too, they filed bankruptcy back in Sept 2012 and still booked weddings into this year and 2014- even went to a bridal show here in AZ in January. Shady and shameful

Arggg.....that is just horrible. I do understand that they can't return the deposits if the government has seized their assets, but that doesn't make it any better for the couples. Anyone who is in that kind of trouble knows it; it doesn't happen overnight.

Years ago, there was a private house here that was booking for weddings and was eventually closed by the town as a commercial operation. I got very close to being a preferred caterer for the venue, but they were unrealistic with their expectations for us too.

Wedding Insurance....seriously. Even venues/vendors with the BEST intentions can run into issues, and you need to be covered.

That's where we got married in December. I feel so bad for all the booked brides! It was a wonderful venue, but I can't believe they continued to book after filing.

This is posted on their FB page. This is still a horrible situation, but at least another venue is helping booked couples.

"Inspirador closing is extremely sad news. The reasons for closing are complex, devastating and heartbreaking. We are deeply sorry. We know that sorry is not enough and we are working around the clock to provide options.

The owners of another wonderful, full service venue called Zulu, in Scottsdale, are offering goodwill to our couples and they have honored pre-reserving wedding dates, will honor the deposit, and will provide a dedicated person on staff to help with the transition and the ability to work with Inspirador couples' current investment."
