Live Streaming Wedding Ceremony?

Britt, on September 11, 2016 at 11:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

I've had a couple people who were invited to my wedding and aren't able to make it suggest live streaming my wedding. I know there are some websites that allow you to live stream through them, and send a link out for people to view during the time of the live stream. I've never actually heard of doing this at a wedding and I would love to see what others thought about it or if they have ever heard/experienced it!

I have not heard about that either! I like the idea of select people being able to watch the ceremony while it is actually happening.

I've heard of it being done especially if there is a lot of family out of the country.

Interesting! I like the idea but I'm not sure how it would be executed without it being super public? Maybe sending a link through text/email? It would be cool for lots of out of town family who weren't able to show up still feel like they are a part of the day.

Our wedding will be live streamed. We were going to elope but everyone talked us out of it now we are doing a big thing in Vegas at a beautiful chapel. Our wedding will be live streamed for 30 days so people who couldn't come can watch us get married and even order the video.

@britt our company that's recording will live stream it! They work with the chapel. If you are having a videographer I'd speak with them and see if they provide live streaming or if your ceremony can be viewed online etc.

Mrs.Mac did this for her wedding- maybe put her username in the title of your thread and see if she has any input.

We are looking into doing this so my dad can watch. We have found several videographers that offer the service.

My couples have used tablets and skype. Pretty low tech, but it works....

I've seen it done when important family members can't attend because of health issues. They used Skype. Not sure I'd put my wedding out there for random guests who can't attend.

I literally thought you meant FB live streaming when I read the title lol! But skyping or using a website would be cool for this who can't come.

No live steaming advice, but I went to a wedding where some of the bride's family was in Thailand so they Skyped on a tablet during the service. It was cool because the bride could see their faces and talk to them too.

Yup! We live-streamed. DH had about 50 people over in Scotland watching and I had quite a few over here as well (*cough WW girls! *cough!) Smiley winking

Initially, the plan was to stream it for DH's grandparents who couldn't make the transatlantic trip. We were thinking Skype on a tablet or laptop at that point. It kinda blew up as more people heard and then we found out friends and family over there were going to have "viewing parties." We were so excited!

Because of this, we decided to seek out a professional. We used the AV company that contracts with our venue. They'd done this many times and that took a huge load off of my mind. We had an actual camera man who could zoom in and out and turn the camera, etc when necessary. The officiant was mic'd for the streaming. It was pricey but it turned out to be worth every penny. They offered HD which was A LOT more $$ and we went with SD. The quality was still really really good. We got to keep a recording as well. Hope that helps!

Thanks everybody for your input! I'll definitely ask my videographer and see if that's something they offer - worst case we can always have a Skype party! Smiley smile

We are trying to figure out a way to do this for some of our family that can't make it. Thinking it might have to just be a Skype type situation...
