Limo advice...how do you get to the ceremony?!

FutureDMK, on June 2, 2016 at 10:57 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

I'm in need of some advice. FH and I are having our ceremony and reception at the same place. Only weddings I've been to were church then reception. And that was the groomsmen/groom in one limo, BM, bride and MOB? In the other limo on the way to church the. Party bus with whole BP after the ceremony on the way to reception. My dilemma, how does it work for same place without seeing groom? I hope this makes sense. I've been trying to figure it out and my MIL has me all over the place. I want the girls to get ready together so we can get pictures, while the boys get ready. Do I go with my father and or with BP? I know it's my choice. I'm just asking what have you done/did.

Are the guys and girls getting ready at different houses or wherever? If so wouldn't just taking 2 limos one for each to the ceremony/reception and perhaps going in separate entrances work? Or am I reading your question wrong.

We are hiring one limo, and just having it take the men of the bridal party in one trip, and then picking the women of the bridal party on the second trip, and keeping us separate at the wedding location until the ceremony. We aren't doing a first look so I plan on keeping the genders separate and having those pictures taken prior, and then just using cocktail hour for all of the mixed-gender photos (for lack of a better word/description.)

Usually they would pick up and take the men over first and then come back for the bride/bridesmaids since you take longer to get dressed/ready and are really the last one that needs to arrive. That's assuming your getting ready location / ceremony/reception space are all relatively close by.

Yes we're getting ready separately. Still haven't decided where the girls will get dressed. I'm hoping my grandma let's us get ready there (she has beautiful scenery outside but she's a little leery). I also want my fsil to get with us seeing her and her daughter are a pet of the wedding. But I know she's worried because FH is getting ready at her house (and worried they will make a mess) I would be close to venue. FH and GM will be about a half hour away.

So have the transportation go pick up the guys and drop them off, and then turn around to go get you and your girls. That's how I've always seen it done.

Do you have a bridal suite at the venue? Our ceremony and reception were at the same place at well. We first got ready at a hotel and then drove ourselves to the venue (I drove myself and our kids) and finished pictures and getting ready in the bridal suite at the venue. Then the groom and groomsmen came without seeing us since we were already in the bridal suite.

Men will get picked up and dropped off first. Then the woman.

That would make sense. FMIL and FH are like let's get a party bus. We don't need something like that because after the reception we have shuttles to the hotel. Thanks ladies!

PS I am thinking of doing a first look with FH a few shots then BP before the ceremony begins. So we can enjoy cocktail hour. FH is more excited about cocktail hour then the actually reception.

@mimitrue there is a bridal suite at the venue. Once I talk to the photographer maybe I'll get a better idea. We're going June 15 to talk to the vendors offers with the venue.
