Hey all, I would love to do a quick survey of the price you ladies paid for make-up and hair (if done professionally). Did you do a trial beforehand? Were you happy with the results?

Is it because I live in the bay area California and the living expense are high so her price is high?

Mine is $399 for hair and makeup (with travel to the hotel). It was an additional $115 for the trial. I am shocked at how low the prices are you girls are throwing out. I can't even get my hair trimmed for less than $60. I have friends that are makeup artists that would have done my makeup for less, but honestly I don't like how the brides look that they do.

Mine is $200 total for hair and make up, and she is putting in a full weave a couple of days before the wedding, and is not charging me the day of for doing my hair, except for travel, which is $60. The make up includes eyelash extensions, and the make up trial was only $20. So grand total everything will have cost me $280, and that is under the $300 cap I had set for myself. I like how she does both, and is very quick! I went to one makeup trial session where it took her 1.5 hours and I came out looking a hot mess.

Wow some of you ladies are getting an awesome deal! I haven't booked her yet but she charges $90 for the trial. And for the day of $300 for both hair and makeup but this includes her traveling to my venue. It's an extra $20 for airbrush which I think I will get. I live in Los Angeles though so I noticed that prices here are a lot more expensive. Plus I wanted to get someone that has done a lot of Asian hair/makeup so I was willing to pay a little more to get someone experienced.

I haven't done mine yet but I'm having my cousin do my hair and makeup. I'm even offering to pick up the needed items. Average I have seen though is $200-$500. o.O But i have plenty of time to fine tune my hairstyle desires. I know how I want my eyes though. Smiley smile

I do plan on doing a trial run or two with her though.

Wow, some of these pricing are amazing! While I could have found someone less expensive, never at the low prices that I am seeing. Maybe that is another regional thing?

Re $1500....I agree. She better dip you in gold. Wow, I guess I shouldn't complain about the prices we paid.

I know years ago when I was in highschool, graduated in 05, the going rate for my long hair was 70$ for an up do. I dont know for makeup.

My best friend and bridesmaid will be doing mine, and likely my MOH's as well, my bridesmaid has short hair she cant do much with, so she was excited about mine, were probably just pinning it back and curling it so you can see the bodice of the dress (my hair goes to my butt)

Good thing I haven't sent her the deposit check yet. There was another makeup vendor I was looking at, her price is around 1k. Do you think it is ok to book with this laday or should I look around for some better deal. I was just afraid they wii get booked fast since they both have very good reputation. Thanks

Tramy, I don't know your budget but I am pretty sure you can do a lot better than that. Someone from Cali responded to this post and she isn't even paying close to 1k, let alone 1,500. What the hell. Seriously? That is way over the top. Where in Cali? The LA area? I am sure even there you can do better. Good luck girl!

These are all awesome prices! My FMIL is doing my hair, but I still need to find a MUA for myself and my BMs. Definetly looking for a great deal that I see how low some of you got!

It depends on the area you are in. I'm in Indiana, so things are less expensive than say, the east coast.

I'm looking at two make-up artists. One is $60 for the trial, $50 for the day of (if a trial is booked), $10 airbrushing, $15-$20 for travel. The other is $35 for the trial, $30 for the day of, $10 airbrushing, $5 lashes, $25 for travel.

Around here package deals range from $140 - $200ish. That is just for the bride and includes both hair and makeup trials and hair and makeup day of.

It definitely must be a regional thing. I am in Miami and I paid $250 for hair and make up which included lashes and airbrush. She came to us. She was actually one of the most reasonably priced mua in the area, they get very expensive! She charged me $35 for hair trial.

$1,500 is not a regional thing. She should not only dip you in gold for that amount, but make you look like Angelina Jolie, Heidi Klum and insert anyone else you'd like here combined. Unless that's a celebrity stylist, this price is laughable.

FW is on her way to her makeup-hair trial as I type. I think its $300 for it for the ceremony/wedding and $135 for the trial...so $435.00. Hope she likes the results

My sister is a hairstylist/MUA so I will have her do my hair.i am doing my own makeup though as I prefer a more natural look and I am not sure she can pull it off the way I would like it.

If the going rate was $1000 in my area, there would be no way I would have a pro do it. I'd just curl my hair and be done with it...
