I'm not a lesbian, but I have many friends that are..two of which are getting married next month :-) So happy for them! IDK your situation as in your personality styles, but with my friends neither are butch and neither are girly girls...however...they both want to have that "special" day in their dress, so they are both wearing ivory dresses that they picked out separately from one another. Have you and FW thought about maybe each going and getting your own dresses that fit what YOU like to see yourselves in? That may be the way to go. It could be that one or both of you don't want a dress and wear a nice suit! :-)

I just wanted to say Hi and welcome to WW. It would be awesome if you could change your avatar pic (it doesnt have to be you it could be anything really) just so peeps can get to know you as you plan your wedding Smiley smile

I'm marrying a dude so can't relate entirely, but most ladies I have known has all wanted to wear a wedding dress since when else can you get a wedding dress? lol

If she is just not a dress kind of girl what about a pant or skirt suit? If she likes dresses but not wedding dresses she could always just wear any color or type she wants. Really though she can wear whatever she feels most comfortable in. I had a friend who married a guy who dressed up in like a ninja looking/robe/costume thing, I kid you not..just because it was comfortable, lol. It was interesting Smiley smile

There's definitely a few same sex couples on here, both girls and guys. Courtney is one I remember from more recently, here's a post she started not too long ago, so you can try and chat with her: https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/march-brides/1714090d0c00c6b5.html

The weekends can be a little slow on the boards, so you know -- I don't want you to be discouraged if you don't get a lot of activity in the next few days. But we'll certainly try to help however we can! Welcome to WW!

I know this might not fit your style, but I was on Pinterest, saw this AMAZING dress, and ended up at this website. Fancy dress, fancy girly pantsuit, beautiful wedding.

Lesbos here - Im doing the pants and shes doing the dress, so no wise words of wisdom LOL.

But there are lots of options. WIth an October wedding, I would wear what would be the most weather appropriate. And for me, thats pants and a jacket LOL

A nice suit (pants or dress/skirt, either way) is nice and feminine without looking uber girly.. If it's just the frills she isn't into, many she would go for a shorter modern dress? I'd link stone examples, but I'm on my phone ;P

Honestly, she can wear whatever she likes. Some possibilities:

    * My wife and I both wore formal wedding dresses. (First picture below.)

    * I loved this photo of the two brides in contrasting dresses. (Second photo.)

    * Or there's the Ellen and Portia option (Third photo.) This article has some tips on buying nice suits for women.

We're doing the Ellen/Portia style ... not because they did but because it is our individual styles. I'm the princess so will be wearing my mermaid gown. While I wouldn't classify her as total butch, my soon-to-be-wife wouldn't be comfortable at all in a dress and yet loves vests so that's what she's wearing (black dress pants, black shirt, white vest and tie) Basically a tux minus the jacket - and she'd wear the jacket except we're getting married in the summer and it will be hot.

We just purchased her (and the GMs) vests and ties from Mens Warehouse because we needed the different colors in the same pattern, but unfortunately the pants they had will need some alteration to fit her so gonna check out a few other places for the pants and shirts to see what styles/cuts they have that might fit her better

As with any bride - she should wear whatever she wants to wear :-)

I'm a second time bride and just wasn't comfortable AT ALL in white or ivory traditional wedding gowns so I ended up with an MOB dress in gold (not pale gold either, it's a distinct gold)

We are doing the dress/fitted suit option. I was able to work with a tailor in town that it going to get me into something that fits my style & body without being too butch

I am having the same issue. I thought I was settled on a dress but now I want a suit. But I don't want to look like a man or the mother of the bride.

I have been cruising Pinterest and finally called on some of my retail friends. Do you know any friends who are stylists or shoppers. My friend, though uber femme, was able to translate the look I wanted into searchable terms. I am back on track.

I'm wearing a dress and she's wearing a kilt suit.

I think a lot of women who are "soft butch" or who are just not butch but not gender-conforming are happy with the soft white pantsuit option. Check out this picture: http://assets.dnainfo.com/generated/photo/2012/05/1337495880.jpg/image640x480.jpg

It's NYC mayoral candidate Christine Quinn (in the dress) and her spouse. The spouse's outfit is kind of what I'm talking about. Not really butch, but not a dress.

My partner and i have been together for 10 years and are finally having a wedding ceremony on November 1 (then we will make it legal when we can afford it again). we are both wearing wedding dresses, she is not butch but also is not girly, however, she decided that she did want to wear a dress after going with me to pick mine out.

She's the lesbian, I'm bi. I'm definitely the girlie one. She only wears "men's" clothes because they feel more comfortable but she is thinking of getting a suit for the wedding. And since we are actually planning two ceremonies, one a short legal elopement, the other a handfasting with friends and family, she is considering wearing the same for both but switching it up by wearing suspenders for one and a vest for the other. A good friend never wears girlie things but wowed us all when she walked out in a beautiful wedding gown to join her partner (also in a gown) at the aisle. There are several places that can make a suit more feminine. I'm not sure what your style or body comfort are but I have loved seeing white jumpsuits or even just a vest and pants in some of my online searches. My best suggestion would be to try things on and see what you feel comfortable in.

Hey! I’m pretty girly, but my future wife is a bit like you style-wise, it seems. She wound up going with a very simple dress (none of those sequins and frills and everything). In the end though, I’d think about what you would be the most comfortable and happy in.

What about a wedding jumpsuit? I’ve seen other people post them in forums and they can be super cute without being a full on pant suit/ tux if your fiancé doesn’t want to go that route. And it would give you both the option to wear white if you wanted to Smiley smile
