Last week to RSVP only received half of rsvps back!

Anonymous, on March 12, 2012 at 3:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Wedding is April 21 but with our families I made sure to have the RSVP on there about a month from the actual wedding date because I know a lot of our family likes to wait till the last min to RSVP Smiley sad

So I had on there to respond by the end of this week

I have only received half of my rsvps back so far 62 coming invited 160

Ugh! Frustrating. Feel free to enlist FH and your BMs to assist in these phone calls, if they are all familiar with the guests who have not yet responded.

I agree with Gina, enlist your bridal party to make the calls instead of you or your fiance. Otherwise you will have a bunch of people telling you yes because they don't have the heart to tell you no to your face, and then they don't show up. I've seen weddings where half of the guest list did not show up after they told the bride and groom over the phone that they would come. Typically, if they did not RSVP, they do not plan on coming.

Also, a lot of people will DROP them in the mail ON the rsvp date. So you might get a handful 3 - 5 days After the rsvp date. I would wait until then to start calling, you might have less people to call. If you give yourself 2 weeks to hunt them down before the final head count is due you should be fine.

    ~ Good luck ~

I am right there with you - I have about 80 people I am going to have to HUNT down! It is so frustrating!

People are definitely procrastinators. I say this because I am one. That's why its always good to leave a little wiggle room between your RSVP date and when you actually need your final count. My friend's rsvp date for her wedding is this Friday. I just realized today that I hadn't sent in my response card yet. I got it out in the mail and it should get there by the end of the week but I've had the invite for quite a few weeks now (and knew from the beginning that I would be going).

It happens. That is why you post RSVP response time about a month before, so you can have plenty of time to check with them. I am doing the same and me FH and i have designated him to be the "strong arm" and make the harassing calls to our friends and families who have not responded to check and see if they are coming or not.

I just mailed invites and RSVP is April 15. We need a head count to the vendor by Apr 27. So FH and I will be making phone calls the week following to find out. I'm sure not everyone will RSVP.

However, both FH and I have families that haven't had a wedding in a LONG time. So maybe they won't be so bad. Everyone was getting antsy for their invitations!

    Just start calling!!

Time to start calling people. I like the idea of the bridal party calling so no one feels bad telling you no to your face.
