Lasik Before or After Wedding?

Chrissy, on July 8, 2017 at 8:26 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 36

I just went to the eye doctor yesterday and found out that Lasik is finally an option for me. My eyes are 20-600 and I've wanted to do the procedure for a very long time! The risk of going blind from the procedure is almost nonexistent due to technological advancements. Our wedding is in June next year (11 months out). My question is this: if you had my eyes and could get the procedure done before the wedding, would you?

Do it before the wedding but do it sooner than later. Don't do it like 2 months before the wedding

I would do it before the wedding. I had Lasik surgery in 2007 and do not regret it. I had terrible vision. Something similar to yours I was seeing 20/20 immediately after the procedure even though I had some healing time. It was definitely worth it.

I say get it done asap. I haven't had it done but know a lot of people who did and said it was the best decision they made. But you never know how your body could react so don't wait too long

I also would do it before. I had mine done in 2007 as well, best $ I ever spent. The procedure was done on a Thursday and I was back at work on Monday with no issues.

Before! Long before, that way you're healed and ready to enjoy your day.

I totally want to get this done! I'm only 5 months out so I might have to wait until after the wedding

I had LASIK done about two years, you would be fine doing it before. The recovery is almost non existent.

Jealous! I've wanted lasik for years but I'm not a good candidate. The doctor recommended PRK instead and I don't want that long recovery time. I have multiple friends who got lasik done and love it!

Follow up questions: if you had Lasik done, how long ago? Did you require any additional procedures? How is your vision today?

Do it before if you are thinking of it but get it done soon! Everyone I have spoken about LASIK has not regretted it.

Totally do it! I got my LASIK a little over a year ago and have been 20/15 ever since! I would certainly do it sooner rather than later, as I had red bruising on the white parts of my eyes that took a little over a month to completely go away. That side effect is normal, but I certainly wouldn't want it in the wedding pictures!

I had mine done probably close to 15 years ago I think. It was definitely worth the investment and I had very little recovery time. I haven't needed any additional procedures since and I love the freedom of no glasses or contacts. I'm just now thinking of going for another checkup because my vision seems to be changing a bit, but I believe it's normal for my age as I just turned 47 and lots of people start needing reading glasses around this time. Do it, you'll be glad you did!

My fiance is a year out from lasik, says its the best deciaion he's ever made. The first couple of days were intense (he had the prk procedure), then a couple months of deminishing sensitivity and now his vision is golden. If you get it done i would do it at least 6 months prior bc it takes time to heal fully and some people take longer to regain their night vision.

I guess there is nothing like waking up and being able to see without fumbling around for your glasses.

I had laser eye surgery about 4 months before my wedding and I've never regretted it. I went in for LASIK and couldn't have it because my corneas were too thin, but they did a different procedure and results were great. Recovery took longer with the procedure I had, and that was a little frustrating, but overall it's been great.

ETA: I'm 7 1/2 years out with 20/20 vision in one eye and 20/25 in the other. No regrets.
