Largest wedding you've been to

EmilyJ, on January 28, 2016 at 9:02 AM Posted in Planning 0 21

I made it exactly one hour into the pointless internship before I made a thread. I feel so accomplished!

What's the biggest wedding you've ever been to? Today I was thinking about a good friend's wedding I went to in October where about 250-300 people were invited. The wedding was an amazing experience, and the dance floor was out of control fun, but you can tell they had to cut back on things like food, but made up for it in every way.

Their family is huge, Italian and full of twins and triplets, and I can't even imagine knowing that many people.

And they are doing it all again in July when triplet 2/3 gets married!! I'm so excited for another party.

Personally, the largest would be about 200. My SIL went to an Orthodox wedding where there were 400 guests. Apparently it was quite a crazy party!

400 - my step cousins. I was maybe 13? It was insane!

I went to my co-worker wedding last summer and they had over 900 guest . And you wouldn't believe dinner was served buffet style with only two lines. It was entirely too many people FH and I didn't even eat the lines was too long. So we ordered a pizza off the app and grabbed it on the way home. From what she tells me in her cultural it is common to have atleast **** guest at a wedding.

Somewhere around 250. 2 of my FSILs got married before I met FH and their weddings were each around 350! Thankfully FH had no desire to have anything that big and we're going with a more "average" amount of 120 guests.

I went to one that the groom had a huge Italian family. I think it was about 300 people. The room was so packed and the rows of tables were so long haha. But it actually went really smoothly, props to that venue for sure!

I have no idea how many guests but I would guess 150-200- and it felt HUGE.

Both of my brothers had 350-400 people. We do have a really large Italian family and both of their wives have large Italian families as well. However, I will NOT be having that big of a wedding. 150 at the absolute most. I just don't see how I could talk to/acknowledge that many people! Their wedding were so much fun though!

A friend of mine had around 300 people. And that was on a Friday night. So if anyone is worried about attendance at a Friday night wedding, it didn't seem to be an issue!

Both FH and I are from small towns and it's pretty common to just invite everyone you've ever known. That's the #1 reason we aren't getting married in either of our hometowns. Typical weddings range from 400-500 people. In fact, the day after we get back from our honeymoon we are going to FH's friend's wedding and she just sent out over 200 save the dates.

eta: We are inviting 195 people and everyone is confused about why our wedding is so small. Um, because I'd rather die than host and have to speak to any more people than that.

I went to the President of Panama (the country) nieces wedding 2 summers ago. She married one of DHs good friends from college. I'm not sure on the amount of people, probably close to 700. And it was something straight out of a tv show. It should have been on "My super Sweet 16" but for weddings. The food, music, outfits, etc were INSANE! The wedding started at 4pm and went until about 4am. We clocked out at about 1am, couldn't do it anymore.

I was invited to a good friend's wedding a couple years ago and their guest list was 700. I'm not sure what their final head count of attendance was though. I missed it due to a work conference. They rented out the local zoo in the evening, which meant there was a gap - despite people saying a gap is common in Catholic circles, this was the only one I've ever been invited to with a gap, and people complained about it.

I heard it all went well though, enough food and seating, and I actually kind of get why their guest list was so high. Both sets of parents are incredibly social, and the groom is in a business where networking and referrals is important. Also, the bride's parents love this sort of thing but this is their only daughter; one of their sons died when he was in middle school and the other is going to be a priest. So this was their one wedding to throw.

DH and I were invited to a wedding with over 400 people. It was a beautiful wedding but we did honestly feel uncomfortable. Neither of us really loves being in a large group of people so we felt really awkward. We stuck around through dinner and some of the dancing but called it a night around 10 or so. Our wedding ended up having around 110 guests and that was honestly a little larger than what we would've liked. We tend to be homebodies though and have a small group of friends that we hang out with regularly so our social circle is pretty small as well.

Mine haha we invited 280 and 220 showed up. The crazy thing is of that 280 that where invited only 50 where friends and 35 friends came so big big families on all sides Smiley smile I definitely wouldn't have done it any other way I love big weddings.

One of my sisters had 200 at her wedding. That was insane because my family tends to do 50-75 people. I worked a huge Jewish wedding once that had over 600 guests. It was crazy. There were as many staff at that wedding as there were guests at mine.

I didn't personally go, but knew someone who had a 700 person wedding. Her father was a big guy in his industry so of course had to invite all his contacts. They build a building just for her reception... pictures were so over the top

My good friend from HS is the daughter of a well-known General and her wedding was about 300. It was absolutely gorgeous and was over six figures. Even though it was that large, it didn't feel that way. It was a great time, and we partied until 3am.

I come from a huge family so weddings with 200-300 people are pretty common. One of my cousins had over 40 people listed in her program as various parts of the wedding party. That was crazy!

Went to a wedding in May with about 250 people invited. The ceremony space, while gorgeous, only had seats for 100 people. I had to stand in 4 inch stilettos during an HOUR long Catholic ceremony. I was not happy, lol
