Large rehearsal dinner, what to do....

FutureMrsZottola, on October 9, 2013 at 7:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

Rehearsal dinner will end up being about 50 people. This makes it hard to just go to a restaurant so I am unsure of what to do or what kind of location to choose.... any suggestions/ ideas of what kind of place to go to for a rehearsal dinner party this large.... anyone else have such a big party for RD? thanks girls

Maybe do a cookout at a family members house. Or rent out a banquet room at a restaurant.

I'd look for restaurants with private dinning rooms. A place with an outdoor area/patio thatis willing to block it off for your party would work, too.

Yeah, we are having 40 people at ours, we are doing it in a restaurant that has two floors and they are renting the second floor to us.

Ours isn't that big (only 30 people). We are having it at a restaurant that is reserving their covered outdoor deck for us. It's neat, it overlooks the shopping district and is the same night they have live music (which could be good or bad, but Im not concerned).

I agree with Barbara and Alysa. I think really it depends on costs and budget.

I invited everyone coming to the wedding to the rehearsal dinner. I only expect maybe half to come, so around 50. We decided have a pig pick'en and oyster roast. Not extremely classy, but who doesn't love BBQ and oysters!

Love the BBQ idea. We have a wedding hotel block and many of our guests are staying there, so we are doing at the hotel in one of their conference rooms

Ours was around 50 people. We did it in my parents backyard. Borrowed some tables and chairs for people to sit outside if they wanted to, about 75% did. The others ate inside, mostly older guests. We had ours catered by a local company. They brought in all the food, dishes, utensils, etc and then took all the dirty stuff away. Got to keep any leftover food. We did a buffet dinner style. Worked out great, though it was quite expensive. But my parents and IL's wanted something that was easy and no hassle to guests or family.

We're having someone (we don't know who yet) cater ours at his parents' house. I'm still looking into options, but one thing I knew for sure was that I didn't want anyone to have to do anything but show up to the rehearsal and party afterwards. Smiley smile

These are all great and helpful suggestions. Thank you everyone! At this point I am about to say to heck with the damn dinner lol but I know our parents won't let that happen... they are way too traditional when it comes to everything else!

We are having about 50 people at our rehearsal dinner and it's at a restaurant. They are preparing a special buffet style dinner for us. They also have a large space in the back that they can block off for us. There has to be somewhere close to you that can accommodate your guests!

Ours is smaller (only 25 people) but we have a party room reserved at a local restaurant. They told us the room can hold like 75 people.

We are doing ours at LaRosas - which is like a Cincinnati thing. It's 10 bucks a person for a pizza, pasta, salad, and bread buffet.

My nephew had about 75 guests (including out-of-towners) at rehearsal dinner in a restaurant's private room.
