KWR: anyone else planning an extreme post wedding chop?

Finally mrs.jkr, on April 27, 2015 at 11:28 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

I always have donated my hair every 2 years like clockwork.... Well since I've been growing it out for my braided updo It has reach mermaid status length. Thing is, I hate wearing it down and always have it up in a high bun when it could be doing someone else some good. I'm planning, on the day after the wedding, to cut it in a shaved side pixie cut like below and I am so freaking excited! Anyone else doing something a bit extreme?

I am! My hair is down to the middle of my back. I can't wait to chop it. I am in a wedding 3 weeks after mine and then after that it's gone!

Lol! That's about the same length of mine. I might get it put back down for the "going away" so it's more shocking to our families when we hang out that week (we don't leave for our honeymoon until the Wednesday after) how short are you cutting yours?

Depends on how much weight I lose. I like short hair, but it makes my cheeks look fat and head look round.

@purplekitten, that sucks! But it's some good motivation! I have zero chin, so even though I'm on the heavier side of "average" when I have my hair down it makes my chin disappear into my neck :/

    Yes. Yes Yes!

My hair is at the small of my back. I live my life in a top bun now.

I'm the polar opposite. I've had long and short hair, but it has taken me forever to finally get it down past my bra straps. I didn't cut it before the wedding, and I have no intention of chopping it anytime soon. Kudos to the other brave ladies though!

My hair was around my boobs somewhere for the wedding. I was so over it that the very next Saturday I chopped it off to above my shoulders. Now I'm letting it grow out along. I want that mermaid length lol

Yes, but less as a post wedding chop and more as a 'moving to a colder country' chop. I've had to keep my hair long living in the Caribbean because I need to be able to put it up otherwise it will end up a sweaty, gross mess.

But as soon as we move to Michigan after the wedding it's coming off. Back to just below my ears at the front and shorter at the back.

Plus 4 years of beach living has completely destroyed my hair, so it needs the chop to try and get some condition back in it.

My hair is to the middle of my back and I can't wait to chop it. FH loves long hair so I won't be cutting it a lot but its definitely going to be way shorter. I'll probably cut at least 6-8 inches. I hate not being able to at least put all my hair up so I can't go that short.

Not really chopping, but I've wanted this hair for like four years, but my job won't allow crazy colors. So the day after my wedding I'm doing it and just trimming it off after the honeymoon. FH isn't crazy about it, but I am so stoked!

Wow im not that brave! More power to you! Ive always had long hair. Right now its barely past my shoulders and that is short for me. But I'm with purplekitten my face is to chubby for short hair. plus its a curly frizzy mess that doesnt look good short.

So exciting ladies! Trisha, that looks cool! I'm sure I'll think/say at least twice on the wedding day "tomorrow is when I get to cut my hair, yay!"

I already have short hair, but my friend has been growing her hair out because of her (now) husband's preference-she told him she's cutting it all off once they get back from their honeymoon because she finds long hair such a hassle.

I'm not doing anything crazy, I had my short hair days! But I love my hair, and it is FH's favorite feature on me so he'd be devastated. I'm even thinking of putting something in my vows about always keeping my hair long for him (kind of playfully).

But here's a then and now with my hair (the first pic is about ten years ago, the second picture was almost 2 years ago, so it's still a little longer).

My FH has encouraged me to go back to the pixie cut every time I complain about my hair. He likes it better, I think. I just don't know how to girl any more, so I'm terrible at styling my flat hair, and am so tired of shedding. But I've been (somewhat) growing it out for a few years now and want cool wedding hair. After that though, it's going away.
