Kissing in front of family

Jass, on November 5, 2010 at 12:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 44

Lately I have been thinking about this, as recently, my dad and I were meeting FS after all day at work, and usually I would lean over and we would kiss, but because my dad was there I felt awkward and didn't. FS teased me later and told me "it's not like your dad doesn't know that we kiss". Very true! LOL But come to think of it, the first time we'll ever kiss in front of family members, it will be on our wedding day it seems. I hope it's not too awkward. How do you guys feel about kissing FS in front of family?

I Do all the time! Nothing gross, just a quick peck on the lips or cheeck, or if it's when he is away working, it's about a million little ones in a matter of seconds!

FS and I kiss in front of family all the time too, tastefully of course. I'm not a huge fan of PDA but if I haven't seen him all day I will give him a peck on the lips.

LOL Brian! When you put it that way, haha I'll try to remember that next time I am in that situation and feel awkward.

@FMS- Yeah I know what you mean, I've seen friends do that and never think it's gross or anything. I guess I just need to work on that and do it quickly and not think too much of it. Smiley smile

Hi Jass, your reaction is normal. You have to feel good about it because you are showing your dad that you respect him and that it good. In my opinion it is ok to kiss your FS in front of you dad as long it is not a long kiss. You can give him a short lip kiss. Leave those long kisses for when him are you are alone in a romantic setting.

We kiss in front of family, friends and whoever else is around all the time ... not heavy petting type kisses ~those are strictly for the bedroom Smiley winking ~ just quick pecks on the lips or cheek type of kisses

I can even do anything further than holding hands in public if there are children or older adults around lol.

And yeah I would do it tastefully, not make out or

    anything like that. lol

@Tiffani- I know what you mean. I have seen teenagers in each other's laps and all over each other with their families right there. To me that's insane. Now when we are in public, we hold hands, and kiss here and there but it's always done tastefully.

We kiss infront of our parents, always have and probably always will. I also sit in his lap if there are no other chairs around. Of course I was also raised in a very, ummm, well, to put it easily my parents have raised me very openly. Sex was not something that was hidden in our home, probably because my father is an alcoholic and doesn't have a sensor for his mouth. So to kiss in front of them is nothing. I am however worried about our first kiss as husband and wife because of our grandparents being there. I don't want a quick peck. I want that first kiss to be special. I'm thinking church tongue here...But once we are in the moment i'm pretty sure that no one else will matter anyway.

I haven't kissed him in front of any other family member except my younger brother and it's because I know my family.

My mom told me when I was 18 that I have to marry a guy that I kissed. I know I'm 30 now and things are different, but she still warns me not to be too close to my FH if she thinks I'm sitting too close to him.

I think it depends on your family belief and environment.

I don't want to give my mom a heart attack or something.

It's like this... It used to feel really awkward to kiss FW when my parents are around. FW comes home from work and I'd want to greet her with a kiss, but held off out of respect for my mom (she still has some issues with me having a FW instead of a FH, ya know?) But now when FW comes home and my parents are there with me, my mom goes over and gives her a kiss and a hug, so I'm like damn. If mom can do it, then by golly I can too. If she's got a problem with that then she can get over it. lmao. It's a very sedate peck, but I'm not going to let my mom get a kiss and I don't. lol

I was raised that it is not polite to sit on a boyfriend lap or kiss a bf front of family, it is okay if married. LOL my FS didn;t go near me when we first met dad, he wanted to make a great impression. It was funny because with my mom, he was all over me like holding me close and stealing quick kisses.

We have kissed in front of my parents, grandparents, cousins, etc. I mean not like a full on make out session but if I feel like kissing him I will lean over and give him a kiss. I think that it would be more awkward if the first time I kissed him in front of everyone was our "first kiss" but that is just me.

We are affectionate in front of family and close friends... not all over each other but a hug or a quick kiss.
