Keurig for coffee and tea bar (70 guests) Tacky idea?

Kate, on January 8, 2017 at 12:50 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

At my venue there's s coffee tea nook that's set up perfectly . I'm already going to have a catered open bar with beer / wine . I was thinking it be guest friendly if people have their own flavor of coffee or tea with cake - if they want it . And I could have a spindle rack with the pods.

My caterior will only do one flavor of coffee with my current agreement. Besides I would only have to rent a large Keurig - or barrow 2 friends.( I'm not a coffee drinker )

Just stick to what your venue has. No one will care and it's not worth the hassle.

I wouldn't call this tacky, but I do think logistically this would be a nightmare. They take time to brew, even if you have the larger ones where you can brew a pot at a time. So. Much. Time. You're way better off letting the caterer brew a couple Cambro's (they hold a few gallons depending on the size you get) rather than make people wait for more to brew from a Keurig.

Um I wouldn't. There would literally be a line to use the Keurig the whole damn reception because only one person can use it at a time. It would take at least an hour and a half, but more like two hours, for everyone to finally get a cup. Bad idea.

I think this idea has merit and it's great that you are wanting to offer your guests other flavors, but execution of it seems like a hassle. I think your guests will be fine with traditional coffee and no line for it.

I think it would be a mess honestly. Keurigs take forever and create a lot of mess. I think it would be better to just skip this idea.

Talk with your caterer about offering flavored creamers or drink syrups, that might be a nice compromise.

I think sticking with the coffee your caterer will provide would work better logistically. Guests won't have to wait for each cup to brew. I know my caterer is providing a lot of different "fixings" for the coffee bar. If you're worried about people preferring different flavors of coffee, ask if they can set out different flavorings like chocolate, cinnamon, mint, etc so guests can doctor their coffee however they like.

I can honestly say that at a wedding, I've never worried about what flavor the brew was. I just added my cream and enjoyed it with my dessert.

Syrups would be a better idea. Like pp have said it'll take time and generate a lot of waste. It's nice that you're thinking of your guests though!

I think its a cute idea, but the hassle isn't worth it.
