Just Us Wedding???

Drew, on January 27, 2016 at 4:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

So fiancé and I were originally planning for a small morning ceremony maybe 25 guests and leaving for our road trip honeymoon that afternoon but now we are considering cutting the ceremony all together because planning is overwhelming and the idea of everyone looking at me is scary!! Anyone ever heard or done a just us wedding? If you have did you regret not doing a big ceremony? What was your ceremony like and how did everything go? I'm open to all ideas and pic inspirations!!

What you're talking about is eloping. It's done all the time. Recently, there was a bride who posted pics of her beautiful elopement. She wore a white gown, carried a bouquet, was married in a beautiful spot, and then the two of them had wonderful photos taken. Yes, you can absolutely do this.

I think if you're not comfortable and feeling overwhelmed then you need to do what you enjoy the most. If that's just you and FH with the officiant I think that's great. You can always host a celebratory dinner after with those guests (notice how I say "host"). You never know what you will and will not regret one day so all you can do is take what you're feeling now and go with your gut, you can't worry about the future too much with this.

I think an elopement is fine. I'm not sure what the guidelines are as far as having a witness sign if it's just the two of you. Check with the county clerk on that one. Maybe the photographer could sign it?

Just one questions-how would your parents feel if they weren't included? My parents would be absolutely devastated. Ultimately, it's up to you, but I think it's worth considering inviting your just your parents to come.

I've officiated weddings for just the couple and witnesses in my living room and other weird places. Parents most attend. Then you can have a party later on in the summer!

We do them every week. Sometimes the couple brings two witnesses, sometimes we hire two witnesses. Sometimes the bride or brides will wear a dress/es, sometimes they bring flowers and a photographer. My partner Michael once did an elopement in a car......

Most of our eloping couples include their parents, if they are local.
