Soon to be Mrs. Epstein
Beginner May 2016

Just started planning, is a wedding for 7k possible???

Soon to be Mrs. Epstein, on June 5, 2015 at 9:17 AM Posted in Planning 0 21

Hey everyone, So we are starting the planning process and are soooo overwhelmed!!

We are tight on money and would love to keep the whole wedding under $7,000. I can see your faces now, lol. Most people stare at me like Im crazy!

But Im sure it can be done... I just don't even know how to get started!

Has or is anyone attempting a low budget but still fabulous wedding?!? and if so what are the plans to keep it at that number?

We were thinking afternoon ceremony on the sand, permit is like 200 bucks. then just have a beach party at the same spot, taco truck, music, drinks and fun in the sun.

thoughts?

It all depends on your location and number of guests.

We are keeping our guest list down to about 50. and location is only 200 for the permit. it would be on the beach right in front of a close friends families beach house.

It is absolutely possible. Just watch the little expenses because that is where is can get put of control.

By location I mean geographical area. I am getting married in a large city, so it would be very hard to stick to that budget. Glad you said your guest list is only 50. That should make things a lot easier.

If you keep your guest list small you can do it just fine, i have 95 guests and haven't cut anything with my budget starting at 10k it went up to 13k because i didnt cut. But if you are on top of it you should be able to spend less. Like i could have had a buffet and that would have been less than a plated meal but i didn't want a buffet. We also spent the extra money on a Day of Coordinator and extra money on uplighting.

Ours is about 7K if you don't include the honeymoon or rings. Definitely depends on your location though. I'm in Oklahoma and our cost of living is very low. Our guest list about 165, church wedding with apps, dinner and dancing in the church hall after.

It is definitely achievable! Our wedding was under $8,000 and it was gorgeous. We had a total of 32 people; we splurged where we wanted to and kept costs low in less important areas to us.

I think your budget is reasonable considering your plan! If you're planning on wearing a traditional wedding dress keep on the look out for DB sales (they have a $100 dress sale at least once a year from what I understand), and sample sales at other dress shops.

Food truck and low guest count, I think this is possible. rentals really depend on your area. Are you tenting the beach? that can get expensive.

FYI: I am also having a beach wedding, Good Luck!

Yes it's possible, it happens all the time. My budget is 5k, it's tough.make sure your prioritize everything. Know what you need and what is just a "nice to have". Happy planning

I think it depends on where you are located in the country. Some areas are much more expensive. It is likely doable but it depends on your expectations. I wouldn't expect a tented beach reception for that budget. A tent alone would be a large portion of that. Other rentals: chairs, glasses, tables, etc will get expensive if you plan on doing that.

I don't usually post but wanted to on this - you can definitely plan a wedding for 7k! Ours will be around there (thinking $7500 after tips). We rented a campground for the entire weekend ($400 from Friday to Sunday) and our caterer is $20/person. Our guest list is 200 and we're expecting around 150. The bridal party gifted us the alcohol though, which was the best present ever (otherwise we would have been a dry wedding and they didn't want that). It's just about being creative. Smiley smile

We are planning it in ventura, no tents, no tables except for food stations. we want it like a beach party. beach chairs, umbrellas, beach blankets. play volleyball, corn hole, etc...

DEFINITELY possible! Just saw a post that some people have spent 7k on the flowers alone! I think it's all about your priorities and where you are willing to cut things. Happy planning! Smiley smile

Based on what you're describing, I think it's definitely possible. Especially since your guest list is 50 people. Sounds like it will be a fun wedding Smiley smile Happy planning

Mine is about 7500 but I splurged on a few things. It can be done. I have 140 guests. The cost goes up as the guest count goes up.

No tents, no tables.... Oh dear.

What happens if it rains, hurricanes, thunderstorms? Do you have a plan B?

$7k is a possible wedding budget, but I wouldn't suggest outdoor wedding nor DW.
