June wedding peeps - cancel or stay par for the course?

Heather, on April 15, 2020 at 4:57 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 6
My wedding date is set for June 27th 2020, with a guest list of approximately 250. I’m sick to my stomach every day not knowing what’s to come and not sure if I should cancel the wedding or not. What’s everyone else doing for their June weddings?

That WAS our wedding day! We’ve postponed... The anxiety was killing me so we made the decision. We would have had so many guests cancel due to traveling and older guest that certainly wouldn’t have wanted to be in a crowd yet. Plus I still had stuff that needed to get done, alterations, suit rentals etc.. which may not have gotten done. Good luck with your decision. Definitely not easy but it was right for us...

We are June 26th, we haven’t officially canceled or postponed as yet. We decided to wait until the end of this month to decide, but our state just extended the closure of everything to May 20th. We just don’t know if we’ll be able to have a wedding a month later, especially with the chances of it getting extended. I’ve been trying to stay optimistic but reality is starting to kick in a bit. We decided to still get married on our date and maybe do a vow renewal/big wedding celebration next June.

My wedding date is June 27th with a 250 people guest list. I’m in NC. As of now, we haven’t postponed. I however don’t believe the restrictions for a group that size will be lifted before then. We are still getting married on the 27th. Just not sure what that’s going to look like. We are waiting for mid-May to make that decision. So our plan b is a small ceremony on our wedding day and then planning a celebration for later with all our guests later. Thankfully our venue and most vendors (still need to talk with the band) are being very flexible and are working with us. And I’m definitely wearing my dress for the wedding and whenever we have the big celebration.

I am sorry about your dilemma.

I would check your local news to see what your governor and county is doing about the restrictions to get a better idea of what may happen in June. Even if the federal government decides to reopen the economy, each state controls its own intrastate commerce. The governor can choose to enforce stricter regulations.

If you're in a coastal state, chances are you won't be able to legally hold a wedding of that size. I say this based on what CA's governor has stated and the pacts that the governors of various states have made to have a consistent reopening plan.
I'd start talking to vendors about what happens if you postpone, and have a Plan B.
    Good luck.

Mine is June 20th. We haven't postponed yet, but have been talking about a Halloween wedding or a Christmas themed wedding this winter. The problem I'm having is that I have no idea what the new normal looks like or when it might be safe to re-schedule. I trust our governor and his guidance, so for now we will just wait and see.

    Hi Heather,

This is definitely a crazy stressful and uncertain time for everyone! It seems like a lot of June brides are waiting a few more weeks before making postponement decisions, but everyone's situation is different and it never hurts to be proactive about plan b!

You also aren't alone right now! ❤️

There are a ton of June brides also talking about their Covid-19 concerns in these discussions:

I'm so sorry you have to think about changing your plans!! BOpClAR83wqJF1bFtFERgypV_BICZsbBvwcIMhTa

Stay positive and hang in there!!
