June Bride - Help Needed

Nicole, on March 22, 2020 at 8:03 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 2

Trying to take everything one day at a time. I’m hopeful that most of this will be cleared up by May and everything will still go through. I completely understand the bigger picture of everything and I am trying to be sensitive to people in general and guests who may be impacted, so I am seeking advice.

My invitation proofs have been sitting in my Minted account for a couple of weeks. I’ve been scared to pull the trigger, even now. My original plan was to send out invitations the first week of April and have RSVPs due mid-May (to give us enough time to get final count by due date, contact those who haven’t responded yet, etc) but in lieu of current circumstances, I believe that we can get an extension on that deadline if need be.

Before all of this happened, we had to cut our guest list to accommodate our venue size and our budget (we had over 300 people) and now we are inviting just under 250. Our invites had a spot on there for “seats reserved” and they would mark on the line below that “number attending” but I feel that’s kind of insensitive now with everything going on. Thoughts?

I also want to send formal invitations out early enough for our traveling guests, but not too early where people think it is insensitive or completely forget about things. These are normally things that I can just figure out myself, but I definitely want to be sensitive with current events. About 40% of our guest list is in the high-risk group or traveling from more than 2 hours to attend.

Hi Nicole! It's definitely a crazy time of stress and uncertainty for everyone! Right now it sounds like most couples are waiting a few more weeks before making any final decisions about their June Weddings. When is your head count due if you do keep your current date? It's standard to send out invitations 6 to 8 weeks before the wedding, so if you can hold off until the end of April to send them, you will have a much better idea of whether you will be able to continue with your wedding on your original date as planned.

We've started gathering helpful resources in our COVID-19 Wedding Support Central, and you can connect with other June brides facing the same questions here:
