June 5 wedding postponement

Erika, on April 1, 2020 at 1:52 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 4
So my wedding is scheduled for June 5. I live in LA and we are following the social distancing order until April 30. Although I had hope that things could get better by April 19 which is when LA county was extending the safer at home order, once Trump announced the new guidelines to be until April 30 that basically shattered my hope. My FH and I do not feel a month is enough time to get everything done that we didn’t get to do (ex: wedding dress alterations). Even more is no one knows for certain when we will be able to resume to a somewhat normal life. I have contacted my venue and the only Friday date they have available this year is June 19 and July 31. The June date I feel is still cutting it close. But even the July dates are beginning to feel not so safe. Our venue is also available June 4 & 18 2021. We are waiting until mid April to finalize our decision to postpone. Anyone else on a similar boat in terms of picking between a date this year or next year? Any advice?😓

My date is for June 6 of 2020. We are freaking out but waiting until the first of May to make a decision about postponing. Or we may just make our wedding guest list smaller

My date is June 6, 2020. I have already contacted my venue and the only Saturday they have for this year is December 26 which is not an option for us because we're doing an Indian wedding so its a few days long. I haven't made the definitive decision yet to postpone however I did look into dates for next year and contact my other vendors. I'm sending my invitations because I want to be prepared in case we can move forward with our June date for this year plus I had already received them and I don't want to waste the money I spent on them. I plan to make my decision between mid April and May 1 but I realistically think June 6 may be too soon for us. I want guests to have a good time and scaling back our guest list isn't rally an option as well.

I am in the same boat! You are not alone. My wedding is scheduled for June5th and we are not ready. I don’t have my dress altered and my FH does not have a tux. Our venue had to cancel April dates because COVID but will not give deposit back if we decide to cancel ahead of time. We are considering having a smaller ceremony with just family but we don’t even know if we can do that. It just sucks. Lol. I don’t have any advice but I hope it helps to know you are not alone!

    Hi Erika,

Congrats on your engagement! This is definitely a crazy stressful and uncertain time for everyone! It seems like a lot of June brides, like you, are waiting a few more weeks before making postponement decisions, but everyone's situation is different and it never hurts to be proactive about plan b!

You also aren't alone right now! ❤️ There are a ton of June brides also talking about their Covid-19 concerns in these discussions:June 2020 brides: freaking out?June and July Brides do not stress Covid-19!!!

I'm so sorry you may have to change your plans, but I think you will so much better once you have locked down a new date!! BOpClAR83wqJF1bFtFERgypV_BICZsbBvwcIMhTaStay positive and hang in there!!
