Anyone nervous about restrictions still being in place? I talked to my event planner last week and I guess I wasn’t as aware of ALL of the restrictions that are being placed on weddings in my state. I figured masks and 6 feet less at tables etc. but now they’re saying cocktail hour has to be seated.... We’re going to be outside in a tent. No passed hors d'oeuvres. Everyone has to remain seated the whole time unless bathroom. No dancing. I was aware of the no dancing restrictions in other states but didn’t realize my state is included in that. I’m unsure what to even do at this point. No cake cutting. No lawn games. I feel like I’m better off just getting eloped.

Yes I’m Rhode Island too! Hi Neighbor! Yeah, initially I knew that they were going to be mask mandates in the 6 feet thing, and I was aware that there was probably going to be less people at a table, but when my event planner informed me of the actual rules that were not mentioned on the news and then sent me the PDF of the specific mandates put in place on catered events I was literally almost in tears. Have you read the section for catered events In the state mandates?

    Hi fellow Rhody!
I have not. I am planning on having the reception at a farm so I don’t have a planner to give me the details! I’ll have to search for it. Thanks for the heads up DJ!

My wedding is a destination wedding at Sandals in Grenada and while we are moving forward as if nothing is wrong, I am starting to get nervous about travel restrictions. Right now I have 70 guest, but if I only have 4 in the end I am going through with it. Dress shopping on Friday, so my backup plan will be small in Grenada or here in NYC!

June 2021 Bride in the NYC area. We have tentative dates with our NJ venue, but they just told us they won't be making official contracts until next year. I don't want to update any other contracts/invest more money if we don't contracts with the venue. The venue is a part of a University and they've taken a stricter position on outdoor gatherings than the state mandated. I think last year in NJ you could have an outside wedding up to around 100 people, but this venue only allowed ceremonies up to 25 with no set up.

If covid rates spike they would most likely spike earlier in the winter months when cold/flu are typically high so I think heavy restrictions (shut downs) would start earlier and end earlier than last year. Even if vaccines are distributed prior to June I believe we will still be under social distancing and mask guidelines. I work in public health, and I just don't see them lifting these guidelines until 2022. I don't have the energy to wait that long.

I'm bummed out, that I've postponed a full year to just have a microwedding, since I could have just done that on my original date. I'm still letting the news settle before really discussing with other family and vendors. And if it has to be a small group I can just focus on the food, lobster for everyone? Our largest cost is the caterer so I think I would work with them the most and see if they can work out a back up plan, an outdoor venue they've used before. If there's no dancing I don't see a point in having more than 25 people anyway. If Hawaii is still off the restricted states for NYC we can just elope + honeymoon ¯\_ (?)_/¯

Yes, real nervous! I have a destination wedding at Sandals in Grenada and concerned about travel restrictions. I have 70 guest and I will still go ahead with wedding if I only have 4 guest! Worst case scenario we will have a small wedding right here in NYC. Right now Sandals is making plans like everything is oK. Of course we have until31 days before to cancel. Thtvu the only saving grace.

♥️It’s definitely a lot to digest. Out of all the times throughout history that weddings have been happening. We fall into that one “nano percentage‘ of time where it’s just like yeah… Nope. No weddings for us. Of all the luck in the world.

I’m not concerned yet, however I do have a back up plan. I’d just need to make sure my caterer and DJ are on board with moving the wedding 1.5hrs away from the originally planned location. I’ll have a backyard wedding at my parents farm. Much less restrictions being on private property and with the barn open on all sides, it’ll allow for plenty of spacing out. I told my FH no matter what we’re getting married on June 12th 2021. I didn’t put all this time and money into this for nothing!

But I did make sure to only put the deposit down on our venue, photography, dj, caterer and baker. I heard so many horror stories of people not getting their payments back that I decided I wasn’t making any until it was due weeks before the wedding. By then I’d know if we’re moving it and if they will be willing to come with us.

Exactly! I was really just hoping for a drunk uncle or a broken zipper to be the drama for the wedding.

We are in GA and due to all of the unknowns at the time we started planning we decided to get married at Sandals in Jamaica. The local venues we wanted were not even taking reservations "until further notice" due to covid even a year out. We had already booked our honeymoon at Sandals and decided to just get married there also! Just hoping that travel is still good come June

That’s awesome. Another thing I’m wondering too is that I know my people. And I know if someone tells them no dancing, they’re just going to ignore it. Some of them will probably ignore wearing the mask and sitting down. Are they going to just throw us all out? Especially the fact that it’s open bar and once you get a few drinks and people are not as likely to listen to you and you say no dancing haha. Plus, I think it’s a bit unsafe to have my guests confined to a chair all night drinking open bar. They will drink faster out of boredom and potential he get too drunk to drive home. Sometimes when you sit in one place and then you stand up you don’t realize how drunk you get because you haven’t been moving at all

Hmmm. It's one of the MAIN reasons I want to send out our Save The Dates ASAP! June 2021 was/is our original date so we have not really been effected... (fingers crossed) and everything has been paid for. Our wedding will be in NC and although with the restrictions on our venue, our number of invited guests would still be under, you just never know. Things seem to change daily. Also concerned that since our wedding will be out of the state, will our guests have to quarantine and will that change the amount of people willing to come. Oooooooooooooh, and since things are so uncertain, we decided to elope. We made it about us and it was so special!! A month in and the best decision ever!

June 2021 would be out postponed wedding date (previously October 2020). Our venue still held weddings on our original date but held pretty much the restrictions you're hearing from your venue: no dancing, social distancing, outdoors, etc. However, they could still host 100 people outside so it would have been acceptable to have a wedding. That said, we postponed to just play it safe so if June rolls around and it's all the same restrictions, then oh well. Loved ones won't care about dancing if it means actually being part of your big day.

Yeah, but at the same time no matter how much my loved ones are excited to share my big day with me, I certainly I don’t think they’d be too excited about sitting for 5 1/2 hours. I certainly want to have dancing at my wedding

Wow! Reading this thread is making me nervous Smiley shame I'm in FL and I live like 10 minutes away from the venue (I drive pass it everyday when coming back from work) and during the weekends I've seen a couple of weddings taking place and no strict restrictions. I don't know what the protocol is (or if they even have one) but I haven't been contacted from the venue to discuss any of the restrictions I'm reading... hopefully it'll get better by Summer?

Best wishes to you all & I really hope we can all enjoy our "big day" safely & beautifully (:

When my FH and I were choosing a venue, we made sure the venue coordinator shared our views. We made sure we have an option to postpone free of charge if our state shuts down again by June. Our extreme backup plan is to just get married on our day at the courthouse and hold a reception at a later date. Otherwise, I'm trying to be hopeful that restrictions will continue to be lifted until June. I think that's all we can really hope for because this is out of all of our hands. Good luck!!!
