July brides-are you postponing?

Danielle, on March 18, 2020 at 11:01 AM Posted in Planning 0 4
I can’t believe I am even in this position. My wedding is exactly 4 months from today and they’ve told us that at least 8 weeks of social distancing and potential shut downs. My venue is shut down until further notice. I’m considering rescheduling for next summer. What is everyone else doing?

I'm July 25th... I'm anxious but trying to keep myself calm. A lot can happen in the next 4 months. If you want to postpone, you can do that now and have peace of mind... or just wait a bit and see what happens. I think the next 8 weeks will be very telling. If you waited 8 weeks, you still have 8 more weeks before your wedding to make a decision.

I agree. A lot can change for the worse or better! 😊 We are going to wait til April 18th to decide as that will be three months. I just don’t want people to be worrying about their health or finances and travel may even still be up in the air. It’s hard to know. If it was in two months it would be easier to decide! It’s the not knowing that’s the worst part.

I think Jamie said it well. There is still a lot of time for things to change. I have heard of March/April brides feeling a sense of relief when things were canceled because there is no more 'waiting/guessing/etc' If you really really think this is causing you too much stress with the risk and uncertainty do what is best for you and your fiance. There are a a lot of brides for March/April who have been moved to July, so just a thought!

Agreed! It is really difficult when we don't have any certainty of what will happen. I think your plan of waiting until April 18th is a good one. Hopefully we will have more information by that point. And even if you don't, you do need to make a decision and everyone will understand if you have to make a decision without all the information available. It is best not to beat yourself up about that - you are simply going to make the best decision for all involved with the information you have.
