Has anyone tried any good juice cleanses? I'm not trying to loose a significant amount of weight but just trying to transition into a healthier lifestyle and loose a few lbs along the way. I am fairly active its the eating part that gets me, so I was thinking maybe a cleanse to kick start some...

I am fairly active its the eating part that gets me, so I was thinking maybe a cleanse to kick start some healthy eating habits. My head says salads but my heart screams tacos.

@Baltimore: What the everloving fuck is wrong with you?!

Did you seriously just come one a wedding forum, AS A VENDOR, and imply that those of us who are not "slim" are also not sexy? Obviously, out DF's would beg to differ, or they likely wouldn't be marrying us.

What a shitty thing to say to a board full of women. It's predatory and diminishing to people's self esteem, and you should be ashamed and embarrassed to have said it. I know I'm embarrassed for you.

@boozy adding a juicer to my registry right now

@MNA yes I definitely have to learn to cook from scratch. I'm horrible in the kitchen, I actually hate cooking but these days trying to save money and get on this healthy train I am proud of myself for doing it more

You'll lose some weight, but you won't lose fat. So it'll just be short-term weight loss, which nobody knows how much you weigh so it doesn't matter anyway!

@Laura: Starting with recipes and then learning what works together will help more than anything. I use the way things smell to tell me if they'll work together or not, especially for stuff like herbs.

@Laura, splurge for a cold press over a vitamix. cold press ensures you get as much of the nutrients as possible. They're kind of a pain to clean but really fun to create your own concoctions!

@Baltimore I'm not really on a mission to transform into "slim" ....I'm really trying to transform from the inside and tone a bit. I don't really equate being slim with being sexy bc sexy comes in all shapes and sizes.

I just started the 14 day teatox. I've heard it works and then it doesn't. If the only thing I get out of it is energy then I'm happy.

Holy Crap Baltimore, I'm "slim" and I'm offended by your diatribe.

@Laura, start by learning the basics. Go to your library and get some cookbooks with recipes that you want to try.

@FutureMrsP - The only energy you will get from a teatox is from the caffeine. SMH!

@FMP: Go get some no-Doze and take those for two weeks instead. Same thing.

I've done them before, but with 'juices' that contain whey as well. It definitely does not work in the sense of loosing weight, but it helped me to kinda 'reset'. Not detoxify, because that's BS, but it helped me appreciate food again. I have sometimes problem with a proper full feeling and after a juice fast, I found it easier to eat the appropriate amount of food again.

No! No! No! Please do not do a juice cleanse. You will royally mess up your metabolism. I have been a gym and health nut for almost 5 years now. Nothing works better than lifting weights, moderate cardio (try 3 times a week), and a balanced, micronutrient-dense diet. Don't over complicate things. It is actually as simple as that. Doing it the right way may take longer, but it is sustainable and way better for your body than doing cheats like juice cleanses. If you ever want to know more, feel free to contact me! Good luck Smiley smile

Ummm...I've done smoothies to lose weight and it worked for losing weight. I didn't don't say anything about getting rid of toxins. I like that do a smoothie for breakfast and lunch and then a somewhat healthy dinner. That's what has worked for me.

@EW: That's really no different from Slim Fast, and it's still a fad diet type of diet. Can you lose weight? Sure. Is it a sustainable, healthy way to do so? No.

Eating your food is ALWAYS going to be healthier than drinking it. It's also more filling and less likely to make you feel hungry soon after consumption, unlike smoothies.

Juice cleanses are not good for you at all. Ask any registered dietitian. Your body is designed to get rid of toxins on its own, it doesn't need any help. It may help you lose weight for a short period but you're just going to gain it all back, if not more when you start eating again.
