Jewish Brides - When do you do the Hora?

Ariel, on June 26, 2019 at 11:14 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 4

Hey everyone! I am trying to figure out my timeline and all of the hora conversations seem to be very old, so i figured I would start a new thread to see if anyone has any new thoughts. We are getting married at 5:30, having a cocktail hour and then a plated salad course and a buffet dinner. Trying to figure out when to dance the hora, when to do speeches, when to do father/daughter dances, first dance etc. Should we go straight from cocktails into the hora? Where do first dances fit in? When would you do chair dances? Would those go at the end of the hora?

I am getting married in an area that has essentially no Jewish population, so my wedding planner has no experience with this and neither does my band.

What are you doing/have you done? If you are already married, how did it go? Do you wish you did anything differently?

It can be done anytime from my experience. We are choosing to do it after cake cutting to keep the party going until the send off. I chose a more traditional pop version of Hava Nagila by Gad Elbaz - I’m also the only Jewish person at my wedding but my planner has experience and my Rabbi is giving my DJ pointers.

At the weddings I've been to, it's usually before dinner and speeches, but after the first dance and maybe a fast song or two!

Saw this Hora on another post and thought it looked so fun!

Ps, I would personally do the Hora before dinner - right after first dance or so.

Hi! Just responding. In all of my experience, people do the hora when you and your SO come back after the wedding ceremony to the reception area. People at that time have started eating their food and stuff.
