Jersey shore wedding and day of week?!

Kristin, on March 5, 2015 at 1:30 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

HELP! Have to choose a wedding date soon for 2016. Doing a new jersey shore wedding down in Stone Harbor, NJ not far from Atlantic City. Due to the minimum I have to do a Thursday or Sunday wedding unless I want winter or april/November and I feel weather is way too unpredictable as far as temperature in those 2 months . But I was wondering Has anyone done a Thursday before? It is cheaper, but worry its asking too much of people with taking off work. But, than again you do give a years notice... Also, what month do you think is best for a jersey shore wedding as far as weather? I want to be married on the beach and myself as well as guests be comfortable ...cocktail hour is all outside as well. Rain aside and just thinking temperature wise i would love advice from those who done or been to shore weddings and thursday versus sunday weddings... Thanks!

I don't know about the weather there but I would definitely say to do a Sunday. A Thursday wedding would probably have a VERY low turnout.

I'm getting married in Stone Harbor this October on a Sunday! We went with Sunday for the lower minimums as well. I've been told by most all of my vendors that October is beautiful for weddings.

What day in October are you doing?! And if I do September do you think September 18th or 25th will be much different as far as temperatures??

My family has a beach house in Stone Harbor!! Smiley smile Where are you thinking of having the reception?? I would also vote Sunday because your bridal party (for the rehearsal dinner) will most likely need to travel the day before the wedding, and now you're asking people to take a lot of time off work for a Thursday wedding. For a Sunday, they may just need to take one day.

I would definitely say a Sunday over a Thursday. A Sunday allows people to travel during the weekend and would only require people who are out of town to take off Monday if they want to attend. A Thursday wedding requires taking off at least Thursday and Friday, plus most likely Wednesday for people to travel. That is a lot to ask of guests.

I would definitely choose a Friday night or a Sunday over Thursday. Too many people will end up complaining to you. My BM told me her sister said Sunday weddings were rude for people who have to work the next day, yeah well she had her ceremony in Trenton and her reception in Point Pleasant....like that's not rude?! Anwyay, I'd def go Sunday.

Definitely choose Sunday. You can have a beautiful shore wedding in May or September-early October if you want to avoid the official summer season. Or course, that is still prime wedding season! If I were getting married at the shore I say September was my first choice. It gets cold on the water in October, but it is still doable.

    Fine Greetings!

We performed at a very lovely Thursday Pier Village/Long Branch Wedding on a Thursday. But everyone is right -- the Guests would need to take a day off, from work.

Here is a Facebook photo link to that very pretty Thursday, August 7th Wedding.

Sunday is great at the Jersey Shore because all the weekend traffic will be going North and your Guests may be traveling South, on the Parkway. So that is a consideration, too.

Truly, from June thru early October, the Jersey Shore weather can be outstanding. You just never know. We have done very beautiful mid-November outdoor Weddings that were very mild!

All the best for an outstanding Jersey Shore Wedding Day Celebration!

    Sincerely, Flutist Michele, Jersey Shore!

Wishing you all the best with your wedding date! That's the best weekend to be in Stone Harbor. Your guests can enjoy the Savor September wine festival on 96th Street in the downtown shopping district that weekend. It's a wonderful event that will extend the enjoyment of your festive weekend.
