Ladies my brother asked me last week if he could wear jeans at my reception and i said to him very calmly well no. And he proceeded to ask me about this around 10 times during a one week period. I told him that i did not want him to wear jeans and if he did not have the proper attire i would rent him his tux. For so reason he is not speaking to me. He went as far to call the venue and asked them if their was a dress code attire and they woudl him no. Well even if the venue is saying they don't have a dress

Antoinette: I don't think you're overreacting at all! Do you think he doesn't want to because it's a money issue? Is he either a larger guy or too skinny? Sometimes guys get weird about what they wear (such girls! I know lol) because it'll make them look too big/too skinny. As your relatives or friends that spend more time with him and see if he's brought up the issue and what his reasons are.

I hope you can get your hard-headed brother to his senses! Smiley winking

Danya: That's a good point--my sister was complaining about having to wear SANDALS as a BM (in an outdoor wedding in Nevada! In late May!), and my mom says it's because she thinks she has "wide toes" and sandals will highlight this "flaw." I have just given up on talking to her about this kind of thing, so I never said anything to her, but seriously, if you're a BM, nobody is looking at your feet--put on your big girl panties and deal. Anyway, I can see how it might be a similar issue for the brother, too, even though he ought to also be putting on his big boy pants.

Kuddos to you for staying calm - if my bother asked me that I think I would be anything by calm. Your bother is so out of place. He must know that this isn't right because he felt the need to ask you, if he didn't see it as a problem he would have just shown up in jeans. You are even going as far as offering to rent him a tux so he has no excuse for acting that way. You are not over reacting at all - stand your ground and don't give in to him no matter how many times he asks!

@Cabell- totally! Like, I was trying on wedding dresses 2 days ago and I was picking out all my flaws in each dress lol and I can see how he could be self-concious about something he thinks the suit will make more "visible" Smiley smile

A good suit tailored right should make most guys look better than jeans, Even a rented suit can be tailored to your needs and size.
