Jamaica Destination Wedding

Ida , on July 11, 2017 at 12:07 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 23

I've been doing a little research on resorts in Jamaica to have my wedding. I came across a few great resorts but the one that stuck out to me the most was Moon Palace in Ocho Rios Jamaica. I haven't come across many people who have had their wedding there as the resort is fairly new, about two years, so I wanted to ask has anyone visited this resort or had or is having a wedding at this resort? I would like as much input as possible before I make a final decision on choosing this resort. I'm newly engaged and I don't plan on getting married until April of 2020 but I want to start early on the planning and need as much info as I can get. I will also like any suggestions on other resorts so that I can compare. Thanks in advance

We were looking at this resort for my bffs wedding last year but at the time they hadnt opened yet and kept pushing back the opening date. She didnt want to take the risk so she went with Half Moon and it was awesome. We stayed in large 7 bedroom villas with a private pool, butler's, housekeepers and cooks. They had a sunset wedding on the beach

I'm probably biased but I'm getting married in Montego Bay at Hyatt ziva rose hall in april. I visited the resort this past April and we both absolutely loved it. I've been talking to other brides who have been married or getting married there at the Hyatt and they have positive things to say.

Hi there. Haven't heard too much about the Moon palace but you have time to do a lot of research. Check You tube online and also reveiws on website to see how you will like the experience. FH and I will be getting married at the RIU Reggae Montego Bay. Heard great things bout RIu and wanted something close to airport if not RIU Ocho Rios would have been our next option. Look into travel agent too for great pricing.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall was actually my second choice after Moon palace and I've also been doing some research on Half moon so it's great to see feedback about those resorts

I'm actually leaving for my honeymoon next Tuesday and I will be staying at Moon Palace Jamaica Grande for 6 nights! It has been driving me crazy trying to find some good YouTube videos of the place. We booked through Costco and got a great deal!

DON'T get married at the Riu's! I got married at the Riu Montego Bay in October 2016, and the wedding dept were rip off merchants, most of the money going in their back pockets! there were so many hiccups - read my trip advisor review. Good luck on your choice, moon palace is meant to be amazing x

We are getting married at Moon Palace Jamaica on August 17! I wanted a resort in Ocho Rios over Montego Bay as a few of the things we wanted to do were in Ocho Rios, and didn't want to spend hours traveling to do these excursions (Dunns River Falls, Blue Hole, Konoko Falls, Mystic Mountain). My agent sent me photos of the resort that were taken by their agents - not resort-edited photos, and she highly recommended it. I would highly suggest going through an agent (we used Mindy at Beach Bum Vacation). They specialize in destination weddings. She got us better pricing than I could get along with some extra free stuff and upgrades. Plus she used to be a wedding planner so she has been my saving grace with all the planning. And I don't have to pay her, so seems silly not to!

So far planning has been relatively smooth, and the Resort Wedding Coordinator does most of the work for you. We went with the "free complimentary" wedding, with a small group of 15, and are getting not only our wedding, but a cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres for free, too. If you want to shoot me a message, I can follow up with you after the wedding and let you know how it went and also would be happy to provide the contact info for my agent!

Ohh looks like you have two people who can take videos and share reviews on their stay with you. @Attia thanks for sharing oohh dang. Was it Just RiU Montego Bay? If so I am doing the Reggae location but will keep that in mind since they are in cLose proximity.

Can you drop link to your trip advisor review. Pictures of Moon Palace looks Amazing.

Hey Tiffany! We, and all of our guests loved Moon palace! I was so nervous during the planning stages, but everything turned out perfectly. Wedding was gorgeous, the on-site coordinator was more than helpful, and our travel agent helped every step of the way, and fought for us on getting our add-ons, etc. Highly recommend both Moon palace Jamaica and beach bum Mindy!

    Hi,
I'm so happy I found this website because I am looking at the same venue as well. Do you mind helping me out with the pricing information they gave you? I sent in a request and I am still waiting for a response.

Hey there! Yes I can absolutely send you pricing. I know that the prices have gone up since I booked, so just keep that in mind. Example- if you want to use an outside vendor (someone the resort doesn’t work with) it is a $1,000 vendor fee versus $500 that it used to be. What pricing information do you want to know?

Hey, I’ve been browsing their website for prices but I’m not really set on a location yet. I’m still in the research phase of the planning as I don’t plan on getting married until April of 2020. The two main resorts that are sticking out to me now are moon palace and The Royalton white sands/blue waters resort. I have seen reviews of people saying hat moon palace was one of the most expensive resorts in Jamaica so right now I’m trying to weigh my options. They do have pricing on their website for wedding packages. The price is based off the type of package you want. Here’s the link for it hope this helps

    Hi Ida,

Congrats, I have actually visited this resort quite a few years back when it was actually Jamaica Grande. It was a nice resort then & large. I believe its amazing now been renovated and name changed.

My sister actually got married at Couples Ochio Rios beautiful resort. I am actually getting married at a villa in Ochio Rios, To have our friends & family together with more than a one day celebration so we opted for the villa. Good luck.

I had originally picked this place to have my wedding, but I had a terrible time before I could even pay the deposit. They're all based in Mexico, when the hotel is in Jamaica and they wanted the money ASAP, but didn't seem to want to give me a quote. I eventually went with a travel agent, but she had horror stories. I'm went with Iberostar Rose Hall Suites instead.
