Ivory/Champagne or Ivory/Ivory Wedding Dress?

Sarah, on June 27, 2016 at 11:26 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23

I found the perfect wedding dress!! But I am really indecisive on what color to go with. I always wanted the "all white dress" look, but I want the lace detailing in my dress to stand out. I don't want it to all blend together in photos or far away and the dress end up looking plain. If I order the dress in ivory/ivory and I don't like it as much, there is no going back! What should I do?? My dress is Allure Bridal style #9353.

My dress is ivory over nude. It makes the lace stand out so much more. I would go ivory over champagne. It makes the lace so much more beautiful.

I have a similar dilemma lol, my dress comes in ivory/ivory, white/white (this was not an option for me lol, I always knew I wanted ivory and another color), and ivory/gardenia. The gardenia color is like a champagne but with a pinkish hue to it, and I'm leaning towards going in that direction because the lace will stand out so much more and it's beautiful. I'm nervous because the store only has the dress in ivory/ivory, so I'd have to use my imagination a bit with the other dresses that are shown in the ivory/gardenia.

    I definitely vote for ivory/champagne!

Have you had the opportunity to see both options in real life? Even if they are not on your exact dress it might help solidify your decision either way if you can see any of the Allure dresses in both ivory/ivory and ivory/champagne.

My dress is champagne with ivory appliqué and I love how it makes the details pop.

I loved the idea of a champagne dress--until I tried it on! It completely depends on how it looks with your skin tone. I was quite surprised how even the most subtle shade difference either looked better or worse on me.

My dress is champagne and the overlay is white or ivory - I can't remember. But I do not know if it was all white, it wouldn't have looked right.

I tried on my dress in ivory over champagne. It just didn't feel like me. I purchased ivory over ivory and couldn't be happier. It just depends on what you like.

Thank you everyone for the responses! Will a black tux look good next to a ivory/champagne wedding dress?

If you can't try on your own dress in both options, try on other gowns by the same designer in those shades. Different designers' shades vary widely: 'gardenia', 'cream', 'champagne' 'light gold', 'blush' etc all vary wildly between designers. See if YOUR designer's "champagne" looks good with your skin tone before committing.

I got to try on my dress in both ivory/ivory and ivory/champagne, though I had to travel a lot to do it. On mine, a Sottero & Midgely, the ivory/ivory made the lace totally disappear, while the ivory/champagne made it visible in a subtle but lovely way.

I'm biased because my dress is ivory and champagne.

I definitely second trying other Allure dresses on. I bought an allure dress in champagne/ivory/silver, but it looks like a completely different color than what's portrayed online.

OP, a navy tux would look very nice next to ivory, but you black also looks good, just a bit more stark in photos
