Is this tacky??

Kentucky Bride, on August 1, 2011 at 6:52 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

I am wearing a mermaid dress that is plain at the top. The dress has a some pleating on the top but it just needs some sparkle. I would really like to add a rhinestone belt/sash, but the problem is my dress has a lace up back. Will this take away from the corset back or will it be okay? Has anyone else had this problem?

Why don't you see if you can get a seamstress that can make it taper in the back so it doesn't take away from the lacing. Can you post a pic of the dress?

I think that would look tacky.

I bet a seamstress could add something to the front without it taking away from the back.

Ohhhhh, I don't think you could get away with a sash with this dress. But damn, the dress is beautiful. Maybe a little pop of color could be added to the strap.

Honestly, I wouldn't mess with it because it's so beautiful the way it is. Maybe some colorful rhinestone earrings.

Have it sewn on so that it will not go over the lace up back. Have you tried a sash with the gown? That may be too busy. You may want the seamstress to add the sparkle to your shoulder strap and in the pick ups?

Thanks Tammy! I was also thinking of having my seamstress adding some crystal or lace appliques just to bring it out. I love the sashes but I just can't picture it with the back of my dress Smiley sad

I agree that a sash would take away from the beauty of the dress. Why don't you consider some very blingy jewelry and hair accessories?

I second Adrienne's post. I think the dress is gorgeous and speaks for itself. With a little bling jewelry, you will look perfect.

You can have a seamstress sew the sash into the side seams. That way you'll get your bling, and nothing to cover up the corset in the back

It's gorgeous! but i know what you mean. i have the same problem with my dress. i'm probably not going to add anything, but you could always pin or sew some appliques on.

Definitely not a sash... but maybe a rhinestone applique type thing?

Something like this applied right below the bustline:

Gorgeous dress. but you could also add a headpiece that you put in your hair. i did this for a dress i tried on and didnt have much bling. a seamstress can add it and saw it for you. much cheaper.
