Is this dress too dressy for my wedding?

Michele, on March 16, 2014 at 1:22 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30

Hi ladies! My fiance and I are getting married in June and we are having a small wedding with close family and friends (50 guests). Our wedding is at a golf club and we will be having an outdoor ceremony and an indoor brunch reception. Ceremony begins at 11am and reception lasts until 3.

I originally wanted to do a simple dress, but I tried on the fit and flare style dresses and I love the way they fit me. I fell in love with this dress! But I am worried that it is too "formal" for a small, outdoor ceremony. What do you think?

The dress is beautiful and you look fantastic in it. It is your wedding, you can do whatever you want.

We are doing essentially the same. Ceremony in the lawn at a small golf course, evening reception etc. but a golf course is considered a classy place, so I'll get whatever dress I want ;-)

I don't think its too formal at all. I love it! I say go for it. You can absolutely wear anything you choose on your wedding day

There is no such thing as being over dressed. Now underdressed, that's a problem. But seriously, I could show up at Sunday brunch in a LBD and heels...

I don't think there's a such thing as "too dressy" for your wedding! Get the dress you love!

Thank you! Makes me feel much better hearing what you guys had to say. I'm going to wear the belt in the first photo and I'm leaning toward the birdcage veil like in the second one. Smiley smile

Another question: do you guys think this dress could have the train taken completely off? Have you ever seen a mermaid dress with NO train? Would that look weird?

I love this dress on you. Go for it! I bet a mermaid dress could look quite lovely without a train. You could have the consultant tuck the train under your dress the next time you go in to see how it will look.

I'm having 40 guests and a formal/traditional style outdoor wedding. Your wedding-you set the tone for the big day! You look great!

No.. it's beautiful... go for it!

If it makes you feel any better... I have a sort of ball gown dress (although the skirt isn't really full... it just hangs nicely) that is pretty fancy and our wedding will have less than 20 people (including us). I originally wanted just a simple dress but then found this one and loved it and figured meh... I might as well go for it!
