Is there a point in hiring a wedding planner at the last minute?

Jazmyn, on September 25, 2019 at 10:21 AM Posted in Planning 0 12
My wedding is November 15 - so about a month and a half out. Is there a point in hiring a planner? Planning is getting soooo stressful and I’m about to lose it. What’s the typical cost?

I would definitely hire a day-of-coordinator. They're essentially a wedding planner for this last few weeks before the wedding, as well as on-site the day of to ensure everything goes smoothly. They can be rather expensive at around $1000 or so, but I happened to find one for $400 because she's just starting out. If you can fit it into your budget, I would go for it.

My venue includes a day of coordinator with my package. I’ve been talking to her a little bit but I’m more so talking about someone to completely take over from here 😓

You could look into a month of coordinator, but you’re going to be hard pressed to find someone with good reviews that’s available with such short notice.

I say hire a coordinator instead of a planner. They usually step in 1 to 3 months before the wedding to tie all ends and creates timeline as well as all last minute decisions. This is the person that every vendor refers too on the wedding date and they’re in charge of changes and putting fires away. Cost varies in your area but I highly recommend it. I had a coordinator but started working with her early in the planning and she was also sort of planner but she was the most helpful towards the end AND the day off.

We hired a DOC but she worked the entire month prior. She cost $1,000. It was super worth it. She confirmed with all our vendors, made our day of schedule, picked up all our decor a few days before the wedding, ran the rehearsal, set up all the decor, cleaned up the entire venue, brought our decor & cards & gifts to us after.

You can probably find someone if you reach out to enough people. If you are feeling overly stressed it's really smart to hire someone. You don't want to take it out on your relationship, or internalize it until you explode.

    So I reached out to 3 planners/coordinators

the first said She would meet with me 4 times if we start now until wedding day. She will give me two timelines for wedding party and the other one for Vendors. The fee will be $500.

The second said her packages start at $3500 because her services are more hands on but she can offer hourly consultations for $25/hour

still waiting to hear from the third lady. I’m not sure which one I should go with. I mainly need help with timeline and a bunch of other small things. I don’t mind doing the work myself I just kinda don’t know what to do if that makes sense..

I am having the same thoughts over here. I am so over planning honestly an I am wondering can I fit it in my budget to get a day of coordinator / planner. These minor details and dealing with people is wearing me out.
