Is it too late to get a dress?

Temara, on May 16, 2012 at 4:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

How far in advance are you supposed to find a wedding dress? My wedding is July 4th, but I will be going dress shopping for the first time next Saturday. So that will leave about 35 days of cushion time between my wedding.

Do you think that's enough time to pick a dress and have it tailored or fitted correctly? Or do you think I should just try to find something off the rack? I'm a size 2 so I'm not sure how easy that would be. I have no idea where would be the best place to go. Definitely not trying to spend a fortune.

Thanks!

You can get a new dress the same day if you want! There are many brides who get their gowns really close to their date.

    Try consignment shops!

Also you could do david's they have sales.

Even if you have to get one off the rack there are some really gorgeous ones!

    YOU CAN DO THIS!

If I was close to you you could have mine! It's that tiny and I can't seem to fit it! LOL

You honestly might have to get a dress of the rack because it usually takes about 4-6 months for a dress to come in..... Davids bridal has really good off the rack sales or looking at like macys or pennys for a simple white dress...

Yeah, I think off the rack is going to be your only option at this point. It wouldn't hurt to some stores, though, to find out how long it would take to get a dress in, or to see if they have samples for sale in your size (or close to it).

I would ask around, see if you can get one off rack. I've also seen some really pretty prom dresses that I wouldn't seriously consider. Those are certainly cheaper.

I bought mine off the rack at a bridal boutique. You can go to a lot of different salons and they may have your size already on the rack.

Alfred Angelo and David's Bridal also have many gowns that you can purchase in the store and get altered as well.

I bought mine off the rack, it was actually a Sample. Its cheaper usually, but you have less of a selection. Dont stress though, you'll find it

I ordered my dress from DB and it arrived in 2 weeks. I can't promise that for every dress, but it's possible.

Not on purpose, but I found my dress 6 days before my wedding. Bought it off the rack and had it altered overnight by a wonderful seamstress near MIL's house (actually, just a fixed zipper and straps being re-positioned).

You can either buy a sample dress, or off the rack, maybe at a department store? Definitely not enough time to order anything. Good luck, keep us posted!
