Is it tacky or okay to wear wedding dress to Mexican restaurant?

Queen, on December 16, 2022 at 7:59 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 7
Im having an intimate ceremony with 10 people and no reception. There aren’t many options in our area. A fancy French restaurant we found is almost an hr away and people are already traveling 2 hrs to the ceremony. We found a cute Mexican restaurant in the area. The building is pretty but not very fancy. Is it weird to eat there in my wedding dress post ceremony?

Going out to dinner is a reception and restaurant receptions are very common. Rock the dress and enjoy yourself. It’s not weird at all, and a casual Mexican restaurant is going to be much more crowd pleasing than a fancy French restaurant that is polarizing. Don’t overthink it and stay true to yourselves instead of creating an ostentatious vibe that doesn’t fit who you are just to fit a perceived image of what someone else whose opinion doesn’t matter feels is acceptable.

Not at all. Your guests will appreciate the more local place. A lot of wedding receptions serve Mexican. Have fun and wear your dress

Mexicans are super romantic! I bet the restaurant would love to have you there. You should give them a heads up. Maybe they can play a romantic song (or 5) on their iPod for you. And I think your family members will love it, too, because it's always better to celebrate in a place you enjoy. If you want to personalize the space, maybe ask if you can bring in your own tablecloths or flowers for your table- just an idea. The day will be special because it is. Your wedding dress will be perfect everywhere you want to go.

It's fine to do that! I was thinking too you could maybe dress up the table a bit, if the restaurant approves.

Its your day; the only one you'll have. What I believe matters most is you and your guests. Go for it and make the best memories possible.

Hi, and congratulations! I think the answer depends on how fancy your wedding outfit is. If it's fairly simple, I don't see any reason why you couldn't wear it to dinner. If you are wearing a full skirted ball gown and cathedral train - maybe not. I am having a "convalidation" wedding ceremony with my husband of 37 years, in June. It's the Catholic wedding we didn't have originally. My MOH and her husband, our very close friends, are hosting our "wedding dinner" at a nearby elegant restaurant and there will be 7 of us. My outfit is a creamy ivory knee length lace dress, a little bow with a small veil headpiece, matching shoes. Hubby is wearing a formal black suit and white shirt, and tie. An outfit like this could be worn almost anywhere for a wedding dinner. I hope this is helpful. Good luck to you!
